Just avoid

This school was/is one of the worst in the area, drugs and alcohol consumed on premises, had teachers that students didn't feel comfortable talking to or being around.
There were a few teachers that students felt comfortable talking to but that was a rarity, yet the staff thought everything was fine.
There were staff members that thought something was up yet did nothing and mental health support there was absolutely non-existent.

exam schedules

Honestly terrible if you are a year 11 student at the moment. School has handled the schedules for exams incredibly poorly (mainly science) to the extent of putting our GCSEs in jeopardy due to not even telling us or being 100% certain when the exams are. I don’t think they have taken the exams seriously as they keep changing the dates making people confused what to revise and sometimes giving them little time to. Also, the last day of school they said they were going to send the last praising stars by mail as they didn’t give us it on the day-that’s a lie so now i’m sat here worrying until august 12th with no information towards what we are looking to even be predicted before we left.

Still bad

It’s still a really bad school even after outwood have taken over. We all look the same , we aren’t even allowed stud earrings. Students are just as bad as usual and are still messing about constantly , they don’t care about the half hour detentions. Also my head of year definitely has favourites which just isn’t right. This year I was all alone on one side of the year. After asking to be moved to the other side of the year she said I couldn’t because it had something to do with our gcses but I couldn’t understand because I knew two people that had moved other which had all different GCSEs and were lower target grade than me. After telling her moving seats wouldn’t help because I’d already said I had no friends I begin to cry but all she did was send me back to class. All the teachers normally favourite the loud and naughty kids that always disrupt the class and they don’t even use the new c system. Altogether it is still a bad school even with outwood here.

Outwood's Influence

Hasland Hall Community School 2016-2021

In Y7 (2016), we had a really strong headteacher who had her head screwed on. In the end of the academic term in summer 2017, she retired and the deputy headteacher at the time stepped up to be the head. The school went so badly downhill, that around 20 of the teaching staff chose to leave the school within one year. The headteacher was so badly recommended that Hasland went under strikes throughout 2019, and it was only throughout 2020 that she was forced to leave after an Ofsted inspection. Because of this, the decision was made to turn Hasland into an Outwood Academy, which, after the takeover (which is still in the midst now), has meant that the environment around Hasland Hall has significantly changed and it is a much nicer, inclusive learning experience, with a full set of teaching staff (as opposed to supply teachers covering 60% of the lessons for the school day) alongside a lot more enthusiastic pupils. The behaviour has changed a lot since the takeover from OGAT, and as a Year 11 student, I feel as though the school is almost as good as it was when I joined in Y7, yet in a couple of years, I think the school will be to the best of its ability. The teachers hired now within the school environment are much enthusiastic and much more supportive of the students, as opposed to the unwelcoming, most likely moderately depressed members of staff having to deal with the bad behaviour due to a lack of discipline throughout the previous headteacher's guidance. The new headteacher alongside OGAT has really helped to bring back the nice, polite, enthusiastic side of Hasland Hall.

bad school don’t recommend

Very bad school , keeping everything really secretive about Covid-19 not telling anyone what year group and still letting bubbles mix especially after school at bus stops. handle bullying really poorly and a lot of racism goes off . naughty children run round school thinking they own the place teachers can not handle them.

Needs improvement ASAP

Really needs improvement, the school handles bullying really poorly and hardly has any consistent teachers there as many leave within the first few months due to how they are treated. The students treat teachers awfully and don’t receive enough discipline.
