All in all really bad, with mr holland leaving the schools rating just plummets, and i learn more by watching youtube and googling than what the new computer science teacher teaches. Doesent even care enough to help students he just says figure it out yourself because even he doesent knoe
Since Mr Holland left this school has gone down hill massively. It’s the first day back today and there must be at least 100 pupils sat in the sports hall for wearing socks or plain black trainers. It is 26 degrees i bet they are all boiling sat in there until 3 o’clock. The pupils weren’t even given a couple of days to get new shoes, it was just straight into isolation. It is not fair!
This school have locked 70+ students in a hall today for the wrong footwear and for girls wearing socks. How on earth can girls be expected to wear tights in 26 degree heat?? This school is a disgrace! The teachers are dropping like flies because of the reputation the school now has. And the teachers that are left are rude and unhelpful. Treating students like caged animals is NOT what school is for. The education in this school isn’t thought twice about. It’s all “dress smart” “ look smart” “don’t stand out”. It is borderline abuse and is against every human right. Whilst being stuck in a hall with many other pupils, they were allowed to go to the toilet ONCE the whole day. I highly advise any one looking to send their child here to rethink their decision!!!
Worst school in the area. Teachers don’t care about how they are treating students most laugh at you if you are upset. They put on an act that they care about education however have stuck around 100 students in a hot hall today due to wearing socks. The way this school is run is in no way professional and they need to take a step back to think about what’s more important, students wearing socks or students getting the education they have come to school for. Don’t send your children here if you are expecting them to be taught.
Teachers don’t do enough to help students. They are getting rid of the pastoral hub so they can only respond to problems they deem ‘important’ enough. The school is mostly focused on its uniform and not on the fact that so many students don’t want to be there as their mental health is on a rapid decline.
Its a bad school, wasnt terrible with mr holland but with the new head its really started to drop. Its evident with how many teachers are leaving, atleast 15 a school year. And every new teacher is getting worse and worse. Dont send your kids here if you value thier education
Joined this school in 2015 and left in 2020. This place completely broke me down as a person and left me with shackles that I can never leave behind.
Good stuff:
- some of the teachers are genuinely nice and do their job to their best of their abilities
- the food
- even though pastoral care is just ring your parents and leave the situation, i must admit that Mr Cuthill was ok.
Bad stuff:
- if you’re in a lower set for maths say goodbye to being able to work. Half the class aren’t able to sit and concentrate in lessons which makes it frustrating to learn. On the other hand Mr Sharples is a good teacher
- some teachers don’t understand a toilet pass. Like why tell me to wait 10 minutes? I have a pass for a reason.
- I drank throughout year 11, I have turned my life around with religion but this doesn’t change the fact when I look back and see how concerning this is. When I was reported for drinking one of the pastoral staff didn’t ring home (like they usually do) and just said it’s ok now and then. Bruh I’m sorry but that’s not acceptable, looking back I wish she stepped in
- the school doesn’t really give a toss about bullying unless it effects their reputation.
Overall I would think twice about sending your child to this school. This place broke me down and left me with pieces of my life to remake and move on. I’m aware that there will be nasty people anywhere but they way this school deals with it is horrendous. I am happy that I’ve moved on to other things, I can finally start living my life.
As a Former Student, i would say my time here was on average good. The school has a good understanding of Students problems but lacked the support for most. My advice to this is to train the Pastoral Care Staff a bit more in the understanding of why most students behave in a disruptive behaviour or just have them replaced.
My 5 years at this school were certainly not the worst and thats thanks to the friendly staff and the schools ability to stick up for kids with mental health concerns. The only problem I had was that some of the pastoral staff came across as quite rude at times but apart from that the teachers have been entirely supportive.
I found that the teachers were very understanding if you are unable to complete classwork or homework if they were struggling with mental health aslong as you were honest and told them what was going on.
I wasn't bullied too much but I did have problems with a few people and the school dealt with things quite well but sometimes it took a few attempts but thats to be expected from stubborn high school kids.
School has been an absolute blast. Most teachers care about how you’re doing in life. It was quite challenging to start of in year 7 but once you get too year 9 you realise how incredible this school is. Bullying is dealt with in the best way it can and pastoral support is incredible and you can always go in the pastoral hub for a chat. Masks are worn in all corridors and every pupil seen not wearing one is stopped and made to put a face covering on. The school clearly care about their pupils future and has now introduced session 6 (an extra hour of maths, English science and geography/history/MFL on Monday-Thursday) for year 11’s. The school canteen is incredible amd food is always very nice and clearly made with care. The rest of the school is all very modern. The school helps pupils achieve there dreams/goals. I’m having a great time so far and my 5 years have nearly come to an end. This school is incredible and I will really miss everything.
The staff at Hartford are amazing, they helped conquer so much. If I ever had an issue I knew i could always go and speak to a member of staff and have faith in that the issue will be resolved.
