Not a school for neurodiversity kids. They will put you hell and your kids so you can drop it out. They have got studied script to follow, just to make you feel you don't belong to that school. I wonder why they called public. Zero empathy and judgmental to kids who already have ADHD. School for robots. Not school for kids.

could be better could be worse

majority of teachers are nice and good however some are awful at teaching. way too strict on uniform rules you can't walk in the building in the morning without hearing some teacher screaming at kids to take their coats off because apparently that matters. getting to lessons is really hard as there is no space in the corridors sometimes they're so packed it's impossible to move and there's never space to sit down at lunch as there's only enough tables for a fraction of the school. the school is really bad with dealing with situations sometimes. not the worst school ever there were definitely good times there but I'm so happy I've left this school now I hated almost every second of being there

Pathetic School and Its Policies for Children

Hello and good morning to all the beautiful people of Sutton,

I am writing to share my latest experience with Harris Academy Sutton. Unfortunately, I have found the school’s detention policies to be deeply troubling, as they seem to prioritize punitive measures over the well-being of students.

My child began attending this school in Year 7, and within the first year, he received 3-4 detentions due to errors on the school’s part. After extensive discussions with the principal and vice principal at the time, I decided to withdraw my support for the school. The administration appeared to deflect their mistakes onto my child rather than taking responsibility.

Just yesterday, my son received a detention for being late to school by only 15-20 minutes because he had a stomach ache and diarrhea. I personally called the reception while he was still outside the school to ask them to let him in. Despite this, they made him wait outside for 6-7 minutes, seemingly to justify the detention for lateness.

If you want your child to study in peace and maintain good mental health, I strongly advise against enrolling them in this school. While I initially believed this school to be among the best, it has become clear that the current environment is hypocritical. Students are punished for innocent mistakes while staff errors are dismissed as misunderstandings.

Please reconsider your options for your child’s education. If you love your child, avoid this school. Home schooling or finding another school would be a much better choice.

Thank you.

Dehumanising and discriminatory

This school school creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating and offensive environment for ALL pupils and one which is untenable for those with SEN. I have deregistered my child after over a year of hell. During the January of Year 7 after a day which included 6 assessments (should this be allowed?) she realised she had missed a detention given out for forgetting to attend another detention given out for 5 minutes lateness and started to have severe anxiety about going into school. She had been so looking forward to the change from primary to secondary, what a slap in the face. She was not sleeping at night, but still lateness (5 minutes in this case) is punishable by detention even in a child struggling as she was. Despite the school being aware of her struggles they mandated that pupils would not be allowed to use school bags that were not the official Harris Academy bag. This bag is too small for her to fit her PE things but yet they DO NOT SUPPLY LOCKERS. Due to my daughter's difficulties she was not able to successfully remember to take her separate PE bag from class to class. She was then disciplined for not having it when needed causing her severe stress leading to further school refusal and anxiety on PE days. We remedied this by purchasing a non-descript light-weight, larger black ruck sack which fit her PE things. The school then refused to allow this and confirmed that pupils without the official Harris bag would be disciplined. The same went for her non-descript black trainers. Sanctions are also placed on students who wear their coats in the corridors, coats which they are forced to carry from lesson to lesson due to their being no lockers. Perhaps the most degrading sanction Harris Academy imposed was that children are not allowed to use the toilet facilities during classes. At the beginning of year 8 the school implemented double periods of one hour and 40 minutes. Can you imagine 12-year-olds being asked sit without a break for one hour and 40 minutes? The only children that would have been allowed a break were those with timeout cards or girls menstruating. This stigmatises SEN pupils and girls. If you are truly trying to avoid discrimination you must give all pupils the option for a timeout. My daughter simply could not attend school at the time of the month for fear of these long lessons where she would be forced to draw attention to herself in order to get some privacy. I was forced to take her to the doctor to get proof of her period but then her absence still went down as unauthorised and I received a threatening letter as a result. There seems to be an agenda that promotes a culture of fear in our schools for both parents and pupils. Unlike at primary there was no WhatsApp group or way for me to contact other parents to find out if their children were having similar difficulties or to unite against discriminative school policy. It has been the most isolating and soul destroying experience. I cannot recommend Harris Academy, Sutton to any parent. I am glad to have found a space to break my silence about the school at last. This school has no regard for the welfare of their students. They simply wish to tick attendance and academic boxes.

Sick of this school's "Good" act.

They only are there for the money
They are only there for the power they are given
They cant comprehend when a person is sad
The sen team is Horrible
If i could rate it less i would
And if anyone attending the school still currently views this i feel so bad for you.

If i had the option to go back to that school or have a low paying job i would pick the low paying job.
I have so much hatred for this school, They do not care whatsoever for anyone who as Disability's or mental issues, Anyone who is hurt, Or even some of the staff there.

Mostly good, could improve a bit though

Overall I like this school it’s mostly good but my friends literally got a detention for helping a new student to class when she was only here for a few weeks! Like how is that fair?-
Also I got a detention for just being late to lesson because I got confused to where I had to go.
In the playground there’s kids swearing a lot sometimes like I literally hear kids swearing and the teachers don’t do anything and there’s also inappropriate drawings in the toilets it’s a little disgusting, yet my friends get a detention for helping someone new to class! Oh and also in my other friend’s class there’s children literally being sus with each other and in y7 don’t even get me started on the weird noises (m0aning)-
Overall it’s good though since most of the teachers are good at the subjects they teach it’s only the sub teachers which are a bit weird sometimes. Like there was this one substitute teacher that didn’t allow ANY pictures of slavery in history (cover lesson) when it was educational. It wasn’t meant to OFFEND YOU. it was meant to EDUCATE YOU.
But also yeah don’t get me started on the toilets- they literally BLOCKED OFF THE TOILETS DURING EXAMS TIME- and they kept it that way after and it’s very annoying but oh well.
But as I said, the learning is mostly good, and some of the teachers are very nice! Shoutouts to miss Williams (maths), miss Williams (geography), miss kenny (who sadly left), miss havenga (also left), and miss Anthony! Also to miss broadbent and mr kureshy!

Don’t recommend and very overrated

This is a horrible school they constantly talk about how they want children to express themselves when they are overwhelming children and stressing them out.My child used to go here and the were constantly coming home upset as they were forced to attend clubs they don’t enjoy and that they are being picked on by teachers and laughed at when trying to reach out.

Harris Academy Sutton

Bad school.

I am a parent and I find Harris Academy Sutton as a school with two faces. They showing parents as good they are but children are treated there with out respect, unfairly like not humansj ust like items. My child was treated unfairly because English is not his first language. He has been told "come back where you come from " by other students and school did not deal with this situation. They do nothing. My child was facing many situation which I can call racist! Strongly do not recommend this school.

Harris

Harris Sutton

In terms of academics it's a great school and the teachers are nice but they take punishment too far. I got a detention for being late due to traffic. My mum even called and said that I can't control the traffic and they didn't care. Also the woman at the front desk (Ms F) is terrifying and unessecarily mean.

Harris academy Sutton

I got a detention for coming into school with white socks when it said specifically on the notebook that we got that white socks are allowed. I also got told that trousers where for boys and I am not allowed to wear them. I also got a isolation for being beaten up by a year 8. Overall this school is terrible and I don’t recommend
