hanley castle high school is selective with students, they will refuse to help you if you struggle with learning disabilities. This is mostly due to the new headmaster, Mark Stow, instead they see it appropriate to put students in the so called ready to learn room, this room only has work up to year 9 so year 10 and 11 students attempting to revise for their upcoming gcses will be left behind. No relevant topics are covered in these so called “ready to learn room” lessons. This room intends to “fix” student’s behaviour, however the headmaster intends to use it to push these developing teens and quite frankly, children to the side. Instead of helping them with issues such as concentration and hyperactivity he’s chosen to do this. This also means your child will miss out on 5 hours of teacher to student learning which is valuable time in these devolving stages.

Just don’t go here

I’m a yr10 at this school I remember the first 3 years were okay because they had a different head teacher at the school called Mrs cook she was nice and helpful but now there’s a new called mr Stowe or something like that it’s now horrible all the teachers are really un helpful. And all the good teachers are leaving due to the new rules and now they have said that if you have a skirt that looks tight then you will get a detention just for a tight skirt its alr for some but other girls like me with thicker thighs and a small waist can’t find a school skirt that fits how they want them to fit its just really bad and the rules are so stupid it changes nearly every term if you care just don’t send your kids there.

HCHS- decent

It was great until year 11 when all the Key stage staff did was cause issues and made things much worse for anxiety and depression....
They were awful at handling bullying but the teaching side of things they were really good... apart from one who just bullied students herself.

The best school ever

Amazing. The standards of teaching is way above average they go above and beyond when teaching. The food is exquisite and the facilities are breathtaking.
