Avoid the Art & Design Course at Halesowen College!
My experience in the Art & Design course at Halesowen College was horrible. In my first year, I was sexually harassed and stalked by creepy boys on campus. Despite reporting it, nothing was done. Instead of support, I was met with dismissive and sarcastic comments from a tutor, which was humiliating and infuriating.
The teaching quality was worse than in secondary school. My first-year art teacher (male, name starts with L) was loud, obnoxious, and made me uncomfortable by getting too close. He was eventually removed in the second year, but the replacement (female, name starts with K) was just as bad. She was rude, passive-aggressive, and used her position to belittle students. She created a toxic environment, shaming students and treating certain groups unfairly—possibly even discriminating.
I also experienced serious issues with the administration. My attendance was wrongly recorded as low, even though I attended every day. When I tried to address it, they treated me as if I was the problem. I enrolled in GCSE Maths but was never informed when it started. When I finally got there, my tutor had COVID and was absent, and again, I was blamed for the confusion.
In my final project, tutor K harassed me while cleaning the studio, constantly ordering me around and watching me uncomfortably. After everything, I submitted my work on time—only to later find out I had failed the entire course without explanation. When I asked K why, she gave a vague response and refused to clarify.
Now, I’m stuck with student loan debt just to finish my qualification elsewhere. I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone—I wish someone had warned me before I enrolled. If you’re considering Art & Design at Halesowen College, save yourself the stress and go unless you want to fail and go into dept advanced student loan to complette your last year
A poorly managed facility, disorganised staff and courses not to mention the superiority complexe that radiats from almost every member of staff, i truly believe that this college is the lowest circle of hell.
Home ed... Racism, bullying, which is not surprising as it full of children that's been kicked out of school. The head (Vicky)has lack of sympathy on how to deal with the children she loves to blame and ignore problems. She very rude to parents as well.my child was punched in the face... Called racist names.. and was told she was to blame, she fail to protect my daughter from the abuse that she suffer there. So I had to get the police involved who had more sympathy and concern than the head (Vicky) did.even they was shocked on how she dealt with the problems that had risen. My advice is to stay away from this place and just let your child do their GCSEs in college where they can get better support. As your child will feel more safe especially if they been homeschool for along time and that's already been bullied at school. I'm sure when they apply to this they will say they take care and consideration in the welfare of your child but it's not true...
A badly run institution with people just looking to get by until retirement. Badly paid staff on lower levels are treated like they are from another planet and do not even get a chance to talk to anyone about their low pay, instead, senior staff/governors just ignore the subject in the hope that it will go away. Glad I got out as the holidays were also awful.
No organisation as it seems to be above management who are happy to get home and leave it to others then moan about it later in hindsight. The lowest paid staff are looked down on by the 'Upper' management who have no idea how hard the jobs are for very little money or benefits. Too many people who appear to do nothing and yet are happy to have their say on other people's jobs when they do not know how that job is done. Facilities are poor for staff, some have nowhere to even put their belongings when they come to work. So many people leave here and do not get replaced as the poor pay and reputation puts potential employees off.
