I hate this school as I go to it right now they do not let you in the "community" area if you are a student and they harass you if you go in About homework and breakfast club claiming they care about us but all they care about is reputation and they won't even let the people who are coming here and getting them paid go into the community area this school is shite I don't recommend sending it kids here bc also dr willy wonka in science might cast a spell on them
I currently study at hlc and I absolutely love this school, teachers are really nice and really strong in their learning area and always helpful the food is really good best school you can ever go to
The way that they teach is great but they don't handling bullying well. I was severely bullied by a lot of people and they blamed it on me even though I didn't do anything. It's not very LGBTQIA+ inclusive which was bad for me personally considering that I'm non binary. I had to change he my school counsellor because one wasn't even meeting with me talk talk. They're terrible when it comes to the dress code and seem oblivious to the fact that sometimes I might have lost a PE sock and I had multiple teachers for most subjects so I had a lot of homework that I couldn't do in time. The food was terrible and the bread was usually stale. Hair in food was something that I commonly found. I have mental health issues and I sh'd in front of a student and they didn't do anything about it
I currently go here and alot of the kids are mean in my year and when we tell the teachers about bad behaviour they don't do much to sort it unless you take it to a member of SLT.
teachers genuinely couldn’t care less about your problems and will always refer you to someone else and it never gets sorted whatever it is. they ignored the fact that i was getting death threats from students in the school and from other schools. skipped past the lgbtq+ lessons in the pshce booklets. walked into the school gates one day and saw people taking jumpers and coats off at the outside gate and i was very confused as to why because they are allowed outside. then got stopped at the gate and was told my skirt ‘looked more like a belt’ by two teachers so me and many other students (predominantly girls) may i add, were all sent to the secondary hall for a ‘well needed assembly’ on the school rules. in that assembly there were around 50 students of varying years again mainly girls. we were all told by the head teacher that we have been disrespecting the school with ‘the way we wear the school badge’ and that girls skirts are a ‘HUGE’ problem because it’s distracting and not smart. i went home disgusted and im sure many others did too. very glad im leaving.
Do not deal with bullying, brush off the fact people wanted to brick my house, told student that it was their fault for being told their head was going to be smashed against wall, blamed sexual comments on students being “inviting”( told to said students by a student support manager) teachers also do not pay attention to when names and or comments are being shouted to students, during physical education names and comments are said about people’s weight and appearance, fights happening in changing rooms and sending the people fighting to boxing training as a “stress relief”
this school is excellent in so many areas. it has excellent teachers and has amazing opportunities for students, there are loads of after school clubs for students to enjoy. there are a few downsides though, through my experience bullying is not dealt with properly and certain students are faveored.the school has helped so many children from a less affluent area achieve more that what anyone could ever imagine. overall this school is pretty great:)
