I go to fcc it is awful and it's slowly getting worse children have no manners and they but very disruptive people into top sets so actual smart people can't learn they have teachers there who from personal experience can't teach and toilets are always nasty and gross and usually closed because of vandalism and bullying isn't really delt with and there have been drug problems but overall the education is quite good if you get a good teacher and class
I had stayed at this school for 5 years and i was not pleased. The behaviour of the students had gotten increasingly worse and no action was done to prevent this. Toilets were closed due to vandalism. However, when the toilets were open, in 99% of the classrooms you would not be allowed to go and would have to hold it in. Some classrooms punish you with detentions for drinking/eating during lessons.
Teachers overreact at a lot of things like skirts being rolled up, but don’t do much about perverted boys. Behaviour system is bad, you often get in trouble for things that aren’t really that important but if you need to tell someone about an accident they never get around to reporting it. Older years are allowed to push the younger ones around and don’t get told off. Strict on phone rules and stuff like that. If you ask for support you either get it and they tell you it’s for attention or they put you on a waiting list. Teachers are rude. Bullying doesn’t get dealt with well enough.
I attended Faringdon Community College for 3 years, and they were the worst years of my life. With some exceptions, the staff are incredibly uncompassionate and arrogant. It seems like 90% of the staff are unhappy in their jobs, and this rubs off very evidently in their work ethic. I will admit that I was not a well behaved child during my time here, but instead of trying to help me in any way, the school demonised me. Detention after detention after excluding and so forth. I learned essentially nothing in the three years I was there. Although I will admit that there were a handful of staff who really seemed to have compassion for their job, such as a history teacher named Miss F (won't say her full name for privacy reasons). Miss F was one of the only people who made me feel welcome in the school and I will always be thankful to her
Following damage to our property, we viewed CCTV that shows a pupil from FCC deliberately damaging our property and cheering afterwards in front of other pupils.
Total lack of respect our our neighbourhood, used daily by unruly pupils. Very concerning behaviour!!
it wasn’t the greatest. I was bullied for two years and the school did nothing and i developed anxiety, they also did nothing. The maths department is an actual joke. The lack of discipline is noticeable and the teachers don’t seem to care about any misbehaviour. In recent years the school population has increased and the school just can’t handle it anymore.
My experience at fcc wasn’t a good one. The deputy head and support workers were very helpful but I don’t think the school took bullying very seriously as it seemed to happen a lot to multiple students in school. Some of the teachers were really nasty so I don’t understand why they would become teachers in the first place. The overall teaching was ok apart from maths which I didn’t really learn anything from maybe it was just my teacher he wasn’t very good and just seemed to moan the whole lesson instead of actually helping me with my work. It’s not the worst school to go too but maybe the school is good and I just had a bad time there.
Going to this school was one hell of a ride! Developed social anxiety during school which they did f**k-all about, worsened by a couple of bullies I was forced to stand next to more often than I wanted due to being next to them in the register. To be fair though had I complained about it they may have been more inclined to do something about it, but social anxiety didn't let me so it only got worse. There were also a couple of teachers who seemed to despise kids so why they became teachers I have no clue. On a more positive note however, the food was excellent! Which you wouldn't normally expect from a school. The cookies were heavenly, I've never found better cookies anywhere else. Also it says not to mention any names but my Business Studies teacher (infamous for always wearing brown trousers and talking about his friend with a surf shop) made every day I had his lesson a really great one. Not only a brilliant person but a brilliant teacher and I managed to finish my Business GCSE with a B grade which for me was pretty high. Overall I'd say whether it's a good school or not depends on who you meet, mostly it's actually fairly decent, just ask for help/advice if something is wrong, don't be like me and suffer in silence. I could've had a much better time if I'd asked for help with the stuff I was going through.
Pretty good school in many ways. Mostly good kids with a few unkind ones who misbehave
and mostly good teachers with some great ones and a couple bad ones. They generally seem to care and it's mostly a nice atmosphere. It definitely deserved its "good" in Ofsted. The main thing I think is bad is how they handle bullying as well as theres like 2 teachers that if u get for GCSE you are screwed. But this 2 teachers out of like a 100 or something so.
Overall a pleasant school, but with its downfalls.
The school has a great atmosphere and most students are geared towards their education and take the opportunities they are presented, however there is a small population of students who blatantly disrespect people living in the surrounding area and teachers in the school.
