Utterly miserable

I left Eskdale some months ago and started to pursue a more solo endeavour until I go to college in terms of my education and I'm god damn glad I did. This school is awful in more ways than I can count. Ancient infrastructure, poor facilities, barely any education even taking place within the walls. The education there is essentially get "taught" information on a subject, get a 10 question sheet on prior information, rinse and repeat. There's no thought or care behind any of this "education" and it was tiring as hell.

The students aren't any better as bullying runs rampant through the school without any sign of changing. I talk to my friend who still goes there and every time I bring up the school they refrain from talking about it much, and eventually when they do it's always about the bullying and the lack of respect or common human decency.

Going back to the aforementioned infrastructure, the school is incredibly old and the walls are filled to the brim with Asbestos (don't even need to explain why this is a bad thing), the pipes are downright dangerous and I vaguely remember one of them Literally Falling Down from The Ceiling. I wasn't there it may not be true but knowing that hellhole it probably was true.

Disabilities within the school are weird. I remember a few certain people with drastic disabilities getting treated with the best of care which was nice to see albeit rare. I have a disability, and I couldn't attend the school much. The school badgered us to get me back into there and when I finally did it didn't change anything, and the only reason they wanted me back in there was so they could squeeze me for just a little more money. So people with more severe cognitive abilities are actually cared for, whereas people with more physical disabilities are left to fend off on their own.
In short, I'm glad this place is closing. It deserves to be demolished to the ground and replaced with something good, like a 5 Guys or something.

TL:DR. Everything sucks. Nothing is good. Bad infrastructure, poor faculties, awful education. Thank the gods above it's being demolished.

Unimaginably miserable experience going here

Went here from year 7-10 (I am now in year 13) and it was easily the worst school I've ever attended. Bullying was consistient, the staff were overworked or outright abusive, the facilities were low-grade. Ultimately got the impression that many of the administrative staff were uninterested in actually making student's lives better and were more concerned with petty drama.

Disabilities in particular were also not addressed at all- I'm physically disabled and was consistiently pushed to do difficult physical activities, especially in PE, that caused me extreme pain and asthma attacks. I've also heard stories of a (former) teacher at this school denying a girl with diabetes access to her insulin. This was only made worse during the pandemic- masking was not mandatory for large parts of the pandemic whilst we were in school and some kids got covid multiple times. I can't speak for the kids in the SEN classes but the times I visited them the classrooms were barren and miserable.

On a side note: the school was built during the 70s, so the walls are filled with asbestos. Usually this would be a massive health and safety concern, but frankly it wasn't even in the top 10 going there. There was also alligatoring lead paint in places (unsealed, hence why it was alligatoring) and ancient piping. A camera also got installed in the girl's bathroom sometime in 2020: apparently to curtail vandalism, but it was incredibly weird. This was whilst doors in the girl's bathrooms were not fixed, including the door to the disabled bathroom.

Money was often spent on 'improving' fascilities (such as the money spent on buying new 'smart boards' that the teachers didnt know how to use, as well as new ukeleles for the music room) which rarely went into anything actually worthwhile. The drama and arts departments, in particular, were severely under-invested in. The rooms were also often unheated in winter and we weren't allowed to wear coats unless teachers gave us permission, making it utterly miserable.

I hope the teachers still there find greener pastures soon- my time there was overall negative but frankly many of them (with exceptions) were good, kind people who deserved better than the poverty wages they were/are getting.

tl:dr- Eskdale school is severely underfunded and understaffed. It has either low quality or directly dangerous facilities, an uncaring admin team and a band-aid approach to dealing with issues that run counter to its job as a place of learning.

Needs improvement

Needs improvement.
Everything dirty or broken
Badly maintained
Teaching isn't great
Punishment is targeted at some students more than others

Needs improvement.

As a student I think the school needs massive amounts of improvement.
Everything is unclean, badly maintained, or
in low supply. Food is always cold and greasy, I usually end up getting a sandwich instead.

Eskdale school Whitby horrendous

School is very unorganised, teachers extremely not caring or undestanding one bit. New head teacher is not good at anything, in lessons it is not possible to learn, bullying is not dealt with. Stupid rules! Eskdale school is a horrible place to be
