Eggar School allow there’s student to be told to ‘kill themselves’
Horrible school. My daughter has been told by other children to ‘ slit her wrist’ and to ‘ kill herself’ to which I have tried multiple times to get help to stop this by ringing up the office and asking for meetings with the head teacher of the school Ms Sarah Holman and have been refused or been told that they will call me back to discuss having a meeting and haven’t heard anything been weeks, months and still nothing how can a school allow this to happen.
SENCO?! Eggars don’t have anyone qualified to deserve that title.
Unless your child is a genius or a budding sports star don’t bother!
They will do nothing to support your child and will tear away at your child’s self esteem and identity until there is next to nothing left of the child you once knew.
They will leave your child anxious and suicidal because their SEN department is clearly not qualified and they quite frankly couldn’t give a monkeys about SEN children. They only care about their image and what they ‘appear’ to do. What they in fact do is sweet Fanny Adams…
Poor care of children with any need outside of 'normal'.'
I am a grandmother. My daughter has been seriously ill. My son in law has been looking after her and working. My 14 year old granddaughter has suffered from extreme school-related anxiety at Eggars. They are not interested and ignore my emails. There appears to be no pastoral care whatsoever. I would not recommend this school ever.
Bro I was promised biscuits at break by my bloody kinteh on a taster day in year five and now I have to walk half an hour to school without biscuits when I could have gone to amery which is not even five mins from my house
i am no a student at this school but i have seen some horrific reviews on this platform. i do in-fact go to a near by school and i to have seen some bad things done by Eggers pupils. for example i was walking and 3 Eggers pupils were throwing stones at someone's house and ran away. I feel as if these teachers are not teaching the students about the write behaviour.
I am a year 8 student who is a student at eggars school. When I joined eggars in year 7 I was promised many things that have yet to be ticked off. The racist, homophobic, vile and sexual comments that are made by students on a daily basis is “normal” and is no shocker. I have report multiple time my concerns about the comments and I was reassured that “punishments” were happening and nothing happened. In year 7 I was extremely bullied and picked on for multiple reasons and when I reported my concerns they did nothing. This impacted my behaviour and soon they realised and called home about it. When they don’t see something right, instead of sitting with u and talking to you they phone home with no warning. The teachers there are rude, inconsiderate and stuck up around the school. It seems like they are always in a bad mood and they impact it on you. They degrade you and make you feel low no matter what you do. Now in year 8, I have sorted my friendship groups and my behaviour yet somehow I still am not the “best” because no one is to them. The education is alright apart from the after school clubs they call “eggars experience.” They practically force you to go and when you don’t, they contact home. 90% of the time when they contact home it’s usually very exaggerated to what either happened or said. Most teachers take what their power is to advantage use this towards your education. Over all eggars isn’t a nice school and I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who wants to be a happy, educated person.
If i could I'd give this school a 1 star tbh
my time at the school was genuinely traumatic and left me with multiple suicide attempt and a self harm addiction. I was bullied by 7 seperate people for my sexuality and gender identity and nothing was done for the whole 3 years i was there. 3. fucking. years. i reported everything probably over one hundred times no exaggeration and nothing was done. teachers wouldn't notice when id leave lessons for 15 minutes and come back with blood on my shirt and puffy eyes from crying. they didnt do anything when i was called a faggot in the middle of a lesson they just cared i was distracting everyones learning. and in year 8 we were all made to fill out a supposidly confidential survey talking about our mental health and then about a week letter my dad was sent what i filled out. meaning i was forced to come out to him.
a multitude of teachers have said slurs even my favourite teacher said the t slur right in frontof me at a certain point. and my old tutor decided it was a good idea to say the n word in front of us just because we were all while. even the kids who said slurs on a daily thought it was wrong.
long story short this school will do nothing good for you if you are in any way a minority. please do not send your child here. me and a few other ex students ive spoken to have left with extreme trauma from the actions of other students here. i suggest sending your child to amery hill instead. it's only a 2 minute drive away from eggars and will do better things for your child.
Teachers are unfortunately incompetent and communicatively challenged, they lose important work, grade unfairly and if they dont like you they will make your life miserable. You can email them multiple times for support and get no response whatsoever. The office staff also tend to be heavily unreliable, often ‘losing’ important documents when it suits them.
If i could rate safety and security 0 i would. The school is an extremely unsafe environment with students with dangerous tendencies being allowed to freely wander the school simply because theyre on sports teams. I felt like my life was in danger multiple times on their grounds and yet, even after informing people multiple times, they proceeded to continually put me in potentially dangerous situations with these students.
Pastoral support is useless. If you value your time and energy then dont go to them for anything.
Equal rights are also awful, students are sexist, homophobic, transphobic, even racist, and teachers support this ideology because ‘everyone has the right to an opinion’ even when these opinions are being weaponized to make their peers feel unsafe and intimidated.
Basically if you arent liked by the faculty here you may as well just give up and go to a different school. All of the teachers could have a degree in favoritism if they so wished.
The only personal development this school gave me is now being afraid to leave the house and anxiety and ptsd symptoms that now completely dominate my life. Thanks.
Dont send your kids here. Especially not if theyre part of a minority group.
It will take years of therapy to undo the damage this place has given me.
When I joined eggars, I was promised a lot of things, a good relationship with my teachers, and a good learning environment, and that I would pass overall, yet this was a massive lie, the school is way overhyped, and the fact that I believed these promises in the first place is stupid, over the joke learning period in the first lockdown, they were awful, setting three hours of show my homework a week, and expecting the students to basically teach themselves. Secondly I have had mild ADHD for the good side of 4 years, and the school have done nothing about it, overall, this school shows no effort to help or support the students, and lie to get you into the system.
When it comes to social anxiety and mental health most of the teachers don’t handle it very well it’s go back to class or where are you supposed to be instead of do you want to talk about it do you need to be alone, we get put into isolation for the stupidest things then think everything will be okay when it clearly isn’t. Also big issue on bullying you think that there is zero tolerance and all that and no one is doing that at this school this is because the year 11 non prefects are the ones sorting it out even when some leave the younger years still look to them because there isn’t Any support. Also it really is one rule for one and one rule for another. The school might look good on open days but normal days it do be taking its toll on the children.
When it comes to students with medical condition, Eggar's School has a select policy for this, however, it is not kept up to day. Personally, I am not bothered if I am identified by this description. With this, My Autism and ADHD caused me to get suspended for a duration of 5 days, the last 2 days before the Christmas Holiday, and the other 3 days are continuing after the holidays. The head teacher was going to permanently exclude me, and if it wasn't for the student support teacher getting this narrowed down to 15, then 5 days, I would have been. Additionally, instead of the school supporting students with needs; even if it's not clear, q student is left out to work on their own. Teachers will focus on the good students who can progress on their own, however, leave the students that are unable to support themselves behind and blame it on their attitude and behavior. Additionally; the school environment is unsupportive of any issues that anyone may have, including medical conditions. The Senior Leadership team, specifically, are the worst staff members in the school, and the only teachers that have been good have left, presumably due to the SLT or the school environment.
Eggar's has some of the best teachers in the state school system. They are kind, passionate and want to help students achieve. However after my 5 years experience there, I have found the leadership to be underwhelming. It lqcks any real leadership from the head and whilst it boasts it's science department, it does not set any classes until year 10 - leaving some (me) to catch up on a year's worth of learning. As for covid they are hypocritical in asking students to wear masks by pulling their mask down to instruct. Recently I asked for a reference from college and gave them 6 weeks to write one only to find out that the day before my interview that they had left it and it only arrived to the college two days later. They let students freeze in the school hall in mock exams to give them an "authentic feel". As I said the teachers are great and you will do well if you want to.
