In general Dulwich College is an excellent school but definitely not as posh as you would think it is. The education is excellent, and going to boy’s school definitely helps in terms of education (some people think mixed schools are better but I disagree. I have gone to a boy’s school for all of my life and never have I wanted otherwise. Sure, I cannot speak to girls and am very socially impaired around the opposite gender but that’s a minor issue.) The school has dealt with the current pandemic excellently and I would definitely recommend it if you don’t mind the fact that you’ll never speak to a girl (which I think is totally fine.)
The school is good overall but has quite a few setbacks, firstly it’s not as posh and prestigious as it’s made out to be and you would think I’m joking by looking at the outside of the school, it also does IGCSEs which are not used around the UK very often so I think it’s very strange and could play at an advantage or Disadvantage depending on how academically inclined you are so I don’t think this is a very fair system and this brings me into my next point, this school would be great if your son or you are very academically inclined but I know that the people who are less so really struggle and although the school has put in systems to help it’s still and everyday struggle and by speaking to one of my friends he said he is finding it quite stressful having to do IGCSEs cause he thinks he could do pretty good at normal GCSCs but is stressed to the eyeballs with IGCSEs and I do see where he is coming from so I would say if you want to be a doctor, lawyer, historian and all those prestigious jobs and you are very academically inclined go for it but if you are more of a hands on guy I honestly wouldn’t recommend Dulwich because although they like to think they are better then they are, they are really just another school that is maybe a bit better than some others I’ve been to but are not very practical
