Our child joined Duke of Kent 6 years ago and we have always been incredibly impressed with the teaching staff and their cohesive approach to supporting her development. When she has had bumps in the road with learning subjects or experiencing difficult times with friendships at school, they have been proactive in finding ways to help her. This support has led her to do exceptionally well across all subjects, overcome issues with classmates and form great friendships. In addition to her school subjects, she is involved in drama productions, music concerts, sports fixtures, chess matches, cake making competitions and charity committees. Mrs Knox leads a fabulous team who are there to help and support you as parents, if you have any concerns take the time let them know and they will listen and do all they can to help you.
Used to be a fabulous school. Now lacks strong leadership and huge favouritism of staff children and well connected families. Biggest disappointments: music dept, favouritism and lack of dealing with bad behaviour. Best bits: Some great staff in Chemistry and English depts. This is not an academic school and used to have fabulous pastoral care and parent/child/teacher relations as usp but this is no longer the case. The school now does not check if it has capability to cope with child’s individual needs and struggles with complex needs of some pupils. ********* is talented at creating a demand and talking the talk.
