Exam results came in bareing in mind my son was constantly poorly after covid as has a low immune system, he didn't do great so spoke to the person who advisers us to next step to be told apply for collage and take any course you can thats what surport u get from this school ,its all about numbers ,not about welfare of our kids,as students will say, shocking school let my 2 children down would never ever have my grand daughter go there
Bullying isn't addressed minority are screwed over and do 1 thing wrong self defense or not (which will most likely be needed in a school like this) they throw you in ico (all room small walls claustrophobic as hell tourture) bad food. The school sucks don't go if option is there
0 stars. This place is so bad, kids locked in gym and changing room because staff take such little notice. Staff and pupils bully and accept bullying, then blame the victim. Staff lie and are unprofessional. Cover staff and staff abusive. Prison like and toilets locked. Staff be-little the good kids and are on a mission to look good when behind the closed doors good is non-existent. Made to eat food out in the rain and snow. Made to wear jumpers in summer. Written warnings are staffs favourite thing and all they do. Isolation prison as not allowed food, drink, or toilet but not allowed those anyway as toilets locked and break and lunch ques long while time short.
I would give zero stars if possible. In just 4 months of my child attending this school, from day one there has been a problem with bullies not only from kids but the staff too. From injuries, to clothes and property being damaged and stolen, to being threatened by the school when sick, to toilets being locked, students not allowed to use toilets even when sanitary products leak, in one incident my daughters sanitary product leaked as wasn't allowed to go to the toilet, then the teacher humiliated my child infront of the whole class and allowed other kids to join in. Also there is long ques at breaks and lunch meaning going without food, water, or the toilet. No apologies or even replies from staff when contact them. Staff be-little kids, staff threaten kids with bad grades, staff put too much pressure on kids, staff don't listen to kids and shout in their face unreasonably, kids aren't allowed to speak, kids given written warnings without explanations when kid asks why the teacher (as I have heard for myself) screams at the class and threatens to leave and give them a different teacher. [Tip to other parents get the find my kids app off Google play store you can listen to the sound around your kid from your kids phone to yours and you will hear for yourself how appalling the staff can be towards students and also how appalling the bad behaviour is]. Staff also say they'll do this or that to improve but then do hardly any of what they said. Uniform too strict as have to wear a jumper at all times even in 30'c as it's the rules, can't even have Christmas jumper day without a tie. Uniform unreasonably expensive and has to have logos and silly rules on style of colar and sleeve length, even told what colour socks can wear, no colour bobbles, no expressing of self, homework sent through online app with online work wondering how those without a phone or internet manage. Manipulation from staff pretending all good when not, ..I probably could go on. ... I do not recommend this school, how ofsted hasn't shut the school down yet due to no actual change happening that actually works I don't know.
I thought it was alright actually, the new logo is abit bad to be fair and the students there are aweful but the school itself is quite good. Of course they did make some really dumb changes like adding huge blue boards on the buildings to signify which building it was (which really wasn’t necessary because you learn which building is which after the first day), the new logo too is just a blue square and offing east canteen was sad but apart from that it’s pretty good. There really isn’t a lesson I turned up to that I really hated, most of the teachers are bareable (key word, ‘most’) and I did enjoy a few. But if there were to be one thing I dislike is most teachers being sexist, a few to boys and other to girls, and even a couple that don’t know what’s actually happening. But what I think makes up for all the negativity is the teachers that are just amazing. There’s always one in every department that’s good, like Mr. Hunt in music for example.
overall most of the teachers are nice and the lesson can be very interesting the only thing is you have separated playgrounds to other groups. There’s only a little hall to share with a few other groups when it’s raining but when it boiling like the last heatwave they let you go on the grass only and under trees to stop the risk of getting I’ll from the heat. Sports day is well funny. Finally I’d say pick this school as it has a lot of pros rather then cons.
My child is at this school and will be moving her away if I can get her into another school. It's a mixed bag of teachers, my child has gone from loving school in Primary and this has slowly dwindled to this year been very stressed about it. Some teachers are lovely and supportive but others (despite her been an excellently behaved child with that will to try) are on a power trip to undermine and belittle them. The behaviour by some in her year is appalling (truancy, smoking/drinking on site, verbally abusing staff, disruptive behaviour) but instead of challanging that some have turned my daughter into someone who hates school and her love of learning is very much dampened.
Our children have experienced horrendous bullying from 2017 to 2022, this school is truly shocking.
My son required hospital treatment for injuries as a result of violence at this school, and my daughter is currently being discriminated against because she has an 'alternative' look. Not just by pupils, she has had disrespectful comments from a teacher also.
SLT refuse to engage, and continually deflect/gaslight whenever we attempt to bring this to their attention.
Some teachers do their best, and are clearly very caring, however, overall this school completely fails to provide a safe learning environment for students in the local area.
I have been going to Driffield since year 7 (September 2016) and back then it wasn’t very good, there was high staff turnover for a couple of years and student support wasn’t there, the behaviour system was failing and the environment was generally depressing then year 9 happened and the new headteacher started changing the school for better, uniform changed, how form operates changed, behaviour system was completely changed and the pastoral team was made much better by losing house tutors and introducing head of years. My first head of year at the start of year 9 wasn’t the best but when the new head of year took over she really got things sorted, the behaviour in my year vastly improved with less and less people in detention and iso but more importantly she cares about what she does. In year 9 I was really struggling with my mental health and not attending school wayy too much and if it wasn’t for the support and help I got from my head of year the problems would have most probably gone on for longer and for that I am so thankful. Year 10 doesn’t really count as covid hit but when year 11 came along the staff were really determined to help us catch up with what we missed through after school sessions and help us achieve the grades we wanted. The sixth form environment is such a positive one, the head of sixth form does what is best for each individual student and helps each one of us achieve our goals as well as all the A level teaching staff dedicating so much effort into helping the students. Now I’m a sixth form student I have seen how much the school has changed for the better over the past few years and the improvements made, the only real criticism I have now is the school’s position on allergies, there is a nut and peanut ban which isn’t properly enforced and that has massive effects on those who have allergies as well as it taking 6 months since Natashas law came into effect to have food properly labelled in the canteens.
And to any students who think it’s clever and funny to get into trouble all the time and not bother doing the work, it’s not worth it, it does have an impact on how much you achieve at GCSE and I know that because I’m talking from experience.
I’m a former student of Driffield school and this school is absolutely appalling some teachers are nice but barely any some would even say that teachers pick on certain students I’ve seen it for myself the worst part of this school is bullying students including myself have/or do feel unsafe there the teachers have no control over what’s going on and people have commited suicide because of this school they can’t control their students and do nothing about bullying , favouritise certain students , homophobic , transphobic and care more about the dress code then their students thoughts on how they feel at school
They keep children locked up in the isolation room , bullying dose not get sorted , same food everyday, fighting, the children are not safe in this school this is horrible school should be taken down
Driffield school is terrible im afraid to say they have the same food everyday and when kids go to isolation they lock them up there is so much bullying there and it never gets sorted ive complained so many times there's always fights going on no teachers stop the children the accept food to be thrown at other children even staff hit the children at times please help me bring down this school
[says 1.7 due to the education and teachers not always being terrible but don’t be misled into thinking it’s anymore than a 1 star at best]
Driff school is this breeding ground for ignorance, the staff have zero clue what seems to be going on in the school and yet to the students it’s just so blatantly obvious. They can make changes to the schools ethos or curriculum or dress code or whatever they come up with but I can’t expect that in the years to come it will be too much different than what everyone else in these reviews are saying. The former students of the school leave either blissfully unaware with no development of their character or they are completely overwhelmed by the environment of driff which for many has led to instances of bullying, facing patronising responses from staff and lack of a general understanding of its own pupils in turn causing a slew of mental health issues. More recently this has become even more evident in the news as there have been articles both shining light on racism within the school as well as how truly dire the effects of driffield and it’s bullying can have on you with a traffic case of suicide RIP. I’d really hope that the collective ‘higher ups’ of the school can learn to see what they clearly refuse to past face value and deal with it because it’s gone too far.
Personal experience- driffield school strengthened me in terms of I know morally what to avoid falling prey to but no due to team building fun learning days 😀 or whatever the fck they want to call them. I spent through year 7 all the way to 13 (sixth form) there and looking back at it I was surprised I even managed to get so far without leaving like I did. My mental health took a huge fall and while there are some options available in terms of MIND groups or mental health ambassadors, the last thing you want when talking your issues to a member of staff is to hear the copy past generic reel of ‘I’m sorry to hear…’ ‘here at [insert school] we strive to support our students to achieve their goals…’ so on and so forth. Maybe had I have had any indication of a generic understanding of the issues I was facing I may have stayed on but when the advice i was getting was about as good as the advice I could give myself I say no point. The only possible credit I could give the school is towards the end of my time there I did start to see more genuine, open minded teachers. Also the education is still fairly decent but it’s clouded so much by experiences outside lessons that it can become very inconsistent depending on the degree to which the school is being terrible on each day- I’d say I managed but I chose to do so by priding myself on the fact that I wouldn’t let the environment bring me down with it - it took an immense amount of willpower.
Final points:
- constant bullying
- fights happen often
- most students hate the school and it’s obvious (reviews prove this)
- it has its good moments but they are few and infrequent (special mention to Mr Andrews probably the most support you’ll get from the driffield school collective)
DO NOT send your child here unless you have run out of options, in which case you’ll have to keep a constant eye on them to make sure they don’t succumb to the nature of it all.
cannot give zero stars, while some teachers are dedicated and good at their job management is inefficient, unprofessional and fail regularly in upholding safeguarding and GDPR laws.
Bullying is rampant and not dealt with due to the utter incompetence of senior staff. Small town, small minds personified.
as a student of driffield school and sixth form, I notice the neglection of students needs from the staff and the blatant denial of it being a problem, such as, racism, sexism, and even open transphobia from the staff themselves. rules on wearing jumpers are tight and unfair, especially during the summer months. in terms of education, its not terrible, but could use some tweaking. lessons should be more interactive and hands-on, yet activities such as science practical's happen rarely. overall, the driffield school and sixth form experience is absolutely disgusting, ironically im writing this review on a school computer currently.
Driffield school is a very toxic environment as a former student who was a part of a minority it is an uncomfortable place for students of different races/religions/backgrounds etc, students are ignored by staff when facing problems such as bullying, they avoid the issues they have at this school and gaslights the students.i would never go back there even for a visit and I would never put my future children in this school unless they sorted these issues out. If part of a minority I wouldn’t recommend this school.
If no stars were possible, I'd give it that. This place is a hell hole for anyone who has any problem with mental health, and if they don't have a mental health issue they will before they leave. Took me 3 years of asking to get even a session of help and then those sessions were patronising and made me miss out on learning time which I had to do in my own time. Bullying and harassment and now a recorded and well documented case of racism will tell you all you need to know about this place, that and the sheer level of unprofessional attitudes towards mental health and student wellbeing.
As a student at driff it is completely abusive over its power.
Theres this rule that you must wear either your jumper or blazer when moving around. Like dude its 25 degrees out here I am not putting my jumper on.
As for the teachers some of them are alright but others, they seriously need to calm down. I'll have my pen in my hand and they will get so irritated and start giving me written warnings which dont do anything at all to improve behaviour.
One subject is uniform. Shouldnt we be able to Express our style? Not at driff me and my friend wear eyeliner and was told to take it off as its "not appropriate for school" and also dyed hair yet again "not appropriate for school" false nails, oh you guessed it "not appropriate for school." I'm sorry but I Dont see how these are going to affect my learning?
Bullying, BIG subject their is a black person in my year and I dint really want to say things like this but people (mostly the boys who think their cool being racist and homophobic) saying stuff to her like "go back to cotton picking" and many other vile words she has reported this many times and they havent done anything about it? Me and my best friend have been bullied due to being part of a subculture such as goth, emo etc. We get told to slit our wrists and they say show us your barcodes (referring to s.h scars) and weve even been told to kill ourselves which is absolutely vile. Overall the racism, homophobia, transphobia and sexism is appalling.
I wouldn't recommend going to this school unless you want you're child to have the worst high school years ever.
driff school is the biggest shite ive ever seen
they shove all the kids who mess around in iso when its ofsted or tell them to stay home so they can get a good rating
they dont help with bullying and they normally make it worse then it was if you ask for help when it comes to bullying
teachers make you feel like crap and dont help you at all with work and if you dont get it they call you stupid and slag you off
THEY FAKE EVERYTHING THEY SAY WHEN OFSTED COMES JUST SO THEY CAN GET GOOD RATINGS
It’s actually shit like pure shit the teachers can’t control classes, they abuse there Power, treat the kids like shit and tell them they will do nothing better in life then a drug dealer.
Never pay attention to bullying or consider students mental health, dress code is sexualised to women.
Don't encourage charcter building/personal growth at all
Vast moneymaking corrupt scheme
