I’ve been at this school for a year now, I’ve been giving a correction for picking up a pen lid off of the floor, been screamed at by an adult male teacher he locked me in a classroom with some of my friends all because we wasn’t going to sit our correction we had to wait until he opened the door for us to run away from him he continued to chase us all the way from the science department to the canteen which he finally decided to give up. I’ve been excluded 2 times because for a small period of time I wore plain black trainers to school because my school shoes were ripped and entering school one day I was stopped forced to put on spare shoes, as a size 6 shoe I was given one size 6 shoe and one size 5 shoe and I was expected to wear them for 8 hours so I took them off walking through the piazza I took them off walked bare foot to the canteen then I put my trainers back on. Waiting to go into fifth period I was stopped by a teacher , Pip palmer , being accused of refusing to put on the shoes given I tried explaining I didn’t refuse and that the shoes were one size 6 and one size 5 she refused to hear it. Tried taking me into ‘reset’ I refused , which lead me to being excluded they rang my parent my mum said just send her home when miss Hurley got off the phone with my mother she said directly to me “your mums got same attitude as you”. I’ve been there one year and refuse to go back to say I’m only in year seven I’m deeply worried of how it’s going to be when I go into year 11 .
Teachers blame people for no reason, they don’t actually do things about bullying either. The lesson planning is quite good, though, it is just the disruptions that ruin the learning. The school needs to do better about the behaviour, and not just punish the bad. They need to give out rewards for the good, because then it will encourage people to be good, meaning less corrections being given out and more achievement points being given out.
However, there are things that the school needs changing. They give you a detention for not having a small piece of equipment, and care more about how you look than your actual education it is a joke. You can get a detention for wearing trainers (which are black, no logos on) which is a joke. I don’t see a problem in wearing BLACK trainers with no logos on them, they don’t make much a difference to actual school shoes. They also put doors on the toilets, and only let those with toilet passes go which is ridiculous? You should let everyone go, and not just a small number of students. You also shouldn’t be putting locked doors on the toilets, because what if someone needs to throw up, or if someone is on their period? This school actually takes the piss sometimes, but it isn’t all bad. Some staff are friendly, but others are horrid. They also have some noncy teachers, which I don’t feel comfortable learning with them.
this is the most terrible school you will ever find in the uk. this school has locks on the toilets and if you are having a panic attack or anything to do with mental health they will talk with you for like 5mins then send you back to lesson even if you dont feel like it. Also the rules in this school are terrible. teachers dont care about your health mentally or physically and if you are being bullied they just tell you to ignore it and get on with your life. it is honestly rediculous.
this school is the worst un cant go to the toilets because there are doors on them the teachers are b*****s they are sooooooooooooooooooooooo rude to everyone they will not talk to u if u need help they dont care about the students at all
my son went to this school from year 8-10 and this school is acctually one of the worst schools in the uk there was a finger nail in his lunch and the staff are really cruel to the kids and let bullying and sexual assult happen and they dont do anything about it they dont care about their mental health either
I have studied in this school for three years and I can that the school system is not good. First of all, they give lots of detentions for trivial things such as forgetting stationery/parts of uniform. Please be careful not have many detention subsequently or talk to your teachers about it as some of them are not very reasonable towards this aspect. Last but not least if you're foreign or are looking towards learning another language other than Spanish better choose another school as this is the only language they teach.
This school is terrible, it accepts bullying, Doesn't care about students mental or physical health, it accepts homophobia and doesn't respect pronouns. They also provide no help for those with learning difficulties, instead they allow pupils to struggle and fail. The school rules are way too strict.
Absolutely shocking school focus more on what the kids look like than actually giving them a education they actually bully these kids it’s all about control I genuinely believe not one teacher is in there to help give a education poor teaching and poor standards
I was at this school from year 7 to 11, this school strongly believes in education they do! They wants what’s best for us students, the staff in that school have been amazing for me helped me though a lot but time to time they don’t but that should be normalised they have other things to be doing aswell there isn’t just one child in the building to cope with there are a lot they will be helping others aswell not just one they have there own things to be doing planning logging things on the computer they are quite busy... yes bullying has become a thing but really it’s not down to the teachers why are parents allowing there child to bully others why are they not punishing their child for what they are doing yes I agree teachers should try but it is parent’s responsibility too it’s not all the schools fault you have to understand schools can only do so much I now have grades I wouldn’t of got without Dixon’s up my back side about my education about me attitude they turned me around Dixon’s is a good school it’s the students that cause the trouble that is the issue
This school is bad it accepts bullying, and when the child fights back he’s the 1 who gets excluded, if they don’t like your child they will make it as hard as they can for your child to get a education, I would not recommend this school to anyone, in my opinion it needs a change of management
No help to my education and i can’t count the amount of teachers I’ve had change since the school entered the Dixons trust. The ridiculous rules leave students feeling overwhelmed and over stressed and has a terrible affect on our mental health not to mention how poorly they are handling online schooling and how little sense most of the work makes but we have absolutely no guidance to make it make sense. Last year one of the Spanish teachers left and instead of getting a substitute we ended up doing maths after being forced to do Spanish as a mandatory subject.

Hardly any options at gcse end up doing a subject you don’t want. Some of the teachers are bullies but some are really nice
