I left this school over 5 years ago and in the 7 years I was there I witnessed first hand how quickly it went downhill
When I started (and for the first half) the school was great, the year groups weren't oversubscribed, the teachers were caring and bullying wasn't really an issue and if any occurs then it was quickly dealt with but when the school became part of an academy the year groups quickly become crammed full without the space to advocate for the students and the teachers became overwhelmed and stopped caring for the students, there was an almost immediate increase in bullying and the support that used to be there was no longer in place. In order to try and get more funding the school opened to people with severe autism but did not put any training or special equipment in place which resulted in other students being physically hurt and the individuals were congratulated rather than taught that violence was not okay.
Other students that have come out of the school have seen a similar experience and I am truly empathetic for those students who are forced into this school that deteriorated to the point where it was no longer a safe and enjoyable environment for staff or students alike
