Not great :/

I mean i guess it's ok is what i will say because even though its not good its not completely awful. The headmaster is nice but apart from that everything else is pretty bad. I guess if i ask the support leader of the year one question its too much of a burden on her and she gets annoyed. When i first joined it was ok but over time they change in my opinion. Avoid

Not a good 6th Form option

2nd term in, of our daughter's 6th form and we are worried about this life choice.

Our daughter spends more time at school without a teacher than with one. One teacher is off sick for 2 months without any teacher cover. I'm not entirely sure if the lack of teachers indicates a lack of set work.

From my daughter's point of view, the 6th form area is less than acceptable. An sparse classroom with nothing that makes it an exciting option for a growing adult.

Choose a different school.

Poor school with terrible communication. Lots of auto generated messages. Choose a different school.

Worst school in Dorset

worst school in the area! Their attitude towards SEND students is disgusting. My child was put in isolation for writing slower than his class mates because he was causing "distractions"! I should not have to be sitting by the phone all day waiting for them to call saying my child has been sanctioned for no fault of his. You should be supporting your students not sanctioning them because they struggle in educational settings. Sara Jones ISNT qualified for safeguarding as they say, a source has told me and my wife she has minimul to no training in the safeguarding area. How you can run a school like this and still sleep at night i dont know! ive heard of many students and parents who have had the same issue...its unexceptable things need to be changed and quickly

Sixth Form - AVOID

So much for the so called "Partnership" between the teachers and students. Isn't Sixth Form meant to be a step towards independence? Well not here...

The school boasts about being in Sixth Form is a whole new experience and that we will gain so much more independence and that they will treat us as adults - I think not. Not only has the school now introduced the babyish "We are Readers" program to Sixth Form too but they are finding every opportunity possible to criticise us as a year group. Furthermore, they have introduced a "Quality Audience" meaning if we do not comply by being a Quality Audience we immediately get send out (bearing in mind this Quality Audience means pens down, sat up straight and making direct eye-contact with the teacher... need I say more). And don't even get me started on the "Supported Transition" between Year 11 and Year 12. Where was that then hm!?!

This is the thing I find most outrageous, the school consistently has been telling us students "Well its YOUR choice to be here, leave if you want. YOU chose these subjects so don't complain about them". Firstly, a school shouldn't need to say this as much unless so many people were complaining about the Sixth Form Experience let alone the fact that there was VERY LIMITED choice for options and most of the people I know had to choose at least one A-Level that they didn't necessarily want to do with (not to add) teachers who don't even know what they are teaching or reading word for word off the PowerPoint.

But don't even get me started on how insensitive the staff are too (although some do go the extra mile to make up for it). The pastoral support for sixth form is appalling with the most insensitive, invasive woman who thinks that everything is such a burden running the pastoral support system. And with teachers downright showing some forms of homophobia in lessons that we learn about the different structures of relationships etc AND racial profiling in some circumstances.

I just can't believe it, nothing like how they advertise it. I have actually found this sixth form experience so bad I am now looking for colleges instead.

Corfe Hills School review

I am a current student, just started year 9, and I have to say the school is almost perfect. It's strict but it keeps us in check and it's actually quite good.

You need to arrive at school between 8:25 and 8:35, But you can arrive earlier, no later. If you do, you get a strike and an afterschool detention. There are uniform checks every morning at 8:35-8:37. They check your uniform and equipment, then send you off to your form room with your teacher.

Then we do 20 minutes of reading, Which can be quite boring but I think it's decent sometimes.

Then when the bell goes, we have 5 minutes to get to our next lessons. We have 2 lessons, then a 20 minute break, where we can go on the field, maths street, The canteen or near our locker. After that we have another two lessons, Then lunch!! After that we have 1 more lesson then HOME TIMEEEE!! The best part of the day ngl.

We have a canteen for break and lunch, the food and drink is AMAZING!!! The dinner ladies who work there are so sweet it's unreal, and are really helpful when telling you the prices and what to do. A good range for vegetarians, Not really for vegans tho. They have pastries, Hot food, cold food, Drinks fizzy and flat, And many more.

I would rate this school a solid 9/10, a 4/5, very good and friendly people. I am going through a very rough patch at the minute, and the slt team (Specifically Mr Lindon) has been very kind and helpful, Even given me a medical card to leave lessons, to have a fidget toy and also go for walks around school if my problems get to much.

I know people might not agree with me but it's actually quite good, I do reccomend it as a whole. It has improved since my sister attended a few years ago.

Awful

Where do I start, a complete waste of time towards any student wanting to get extra curricular help, the school consistently boasts of a top notch anti bullying policy, which in fact was not once ever used, students use slurs towards others, the entire school seems to focus more on keeping up their grade than actually focusing on the students

Poor but need to have consideration

The lack of teachers mean that support for the students who need extra support is minimal. However you need to place it into consideration as some teachers do care and are good at teaching, but have large classes and a range of students to deal with.

Lack of understanding

Lack of respect for students especially those who are struggling all seems very grades over wellbeing. There is also little to no support for students who are facing bulling or a tough home life as well as this some of the teaching staff show a lack of compassion and understanding.

Satisfactory

Some of the teachers do actually care about the education of the student and wellbeing and actually put the time in to become friends with the student however many teachers especially the maths and science department seem to be lacking effort and do not have good teaching methods nor know how to control a class.

Unsatisfactory to say the least..

Some teachers are good in lower school but had to teach most of my science content to myself with numerous supplies, sixth form experience fairly poor with immense lack of support for certain members of staff.
