Working at this school was undoubtedly one of the worst experiences of my life. The behaviour of some of the girls was appalling – I had students swear at me, refuse to complete any work, defy instructions at every turn, and wander around the school as if it were a theme park.
That said, there were many kind, hardworking girls whose education suffered because I was constantly dealing with the disruptive ones. The solution is simple: adopt a zero-tolerance policy on poor behaviour, like the best schools in the country, and enforce real sanctions. These girls need to understand that misbehaviour carries immediate and serious consequences.
However, the management at this school is delusional. They are fixated on making excuses for bad behaviour. It’s astonishing how many students seem to have conditions that supposedly justify their poor conduct – you’d think Combe Girls was a psychiatric ward. Despite the mass exodus of experienced teachers, the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) remains stubbornly attached to an inadequate restorative system that simply doesn’t work.
It’s no surprise to me that the recent Ofsted inspection downgraded the school; they were lucky to still receive a 'Good' rating. Without the artificial shine of Cultural Day, the inspectors would have seen the real state of affairs. The SLT is a complacent, self-congratulatory clique more concerned with following the latest educational trends and looking good than with upholding genuine standards of behaviour and academic work. Don’t take my word for it—ask any teacher who isn’t trying to curry favour with the management for promotions.
My son has not had the best start with his A levels. The subject he wishes to take is not available to him as they are unwilling to look at individual circumstances and then other option he was offered was the BTECH route but even that we discovered there are no spaces available on the course so now he is stuck!
Very racist and i accepting of different religions. The school and the it’s don’t respect others under educational
Law ch I’lldrennhave human rights to express their beliefs.Yet since Cghs went overboard with LGBT they forgot about democracy and they forget about respect towards others. As a parent if you’re girl decides they area boy then send them to a boys school let them be boy that’s also under lgbts legislation. You can’t have it both ways .This enforces hypocrisy in society .Either all children have the right to choose what they believe and express themselves or none of them do.Also disappointed there is no prayer room in the school. Why isgvere no facilities for pupils who have faith?Theresso much for LGBT ????? Democracy ??? What’s that ?? Very disappointed I do not recommend this school. They favourities there agenda not justice and pupils who manipulate .The Pastor at New Malden by pass church who’s daughters went to the school warned me that it was not inclusive to fam I I us of faith and his daughters where bullied at the school 🥹
All the good reviews under this school is obviously the teachers
The school hygiene level is a literal 1/5 the toilets smell like a nuclear bunker and the food is like resident evil food And every time I step into the toilet I see year 7s who look like they just came out of their mothers womb vaping and swearing at me.PS i also think the school now got banned from TFL services- I saw a year 8 pushing an elderly woman out of the way to get on the bus.
We all know that all the good reviews under this school are written by teachers
this school has a literal hygiene level of 1/5 the toilets smell like a nuclear bunker and I always see year 7s( who look like they just came out of their mother's womb ) vaping and taking up the whole bathroom!!!! I acknowledge their efforts to prevent this from occurring repeatedly however its not working!! stop doing pointless assemblies because no one is gonna comply. Also I think we are gonna be permanently banned from using the TFL services now, I remember witnessing a year 8 pushing an elderly woman out of the way to get on the bus
So far, it has been so difficult to get through a year with good friends. The school does nothing to help with issues including bullying and I find they are very selective about who they choose to help with their mental health. Most people struggling are very quickly dismissed and ignored, and are given little to no help when needed. As for bullying, teachers will often try to tell you you are overthinking or will do nearly nothing to sort out the issue. the education is okay, better in some areas, but the pressure to do your best is too much and it’s not often i get a break. Alongside, the school cares too much about their reputation to take care of anything else, students can’t express themselves even if it doesn’t cause harm, because we our taught that our purpose is to serve and represent the “coombe community” and that it’s the only part of our identity that matters. Other than this, some teachers can be really nice and understanding, and the language department is also great. And every year the school puts on a great school play.
Really kind and staff who are always ready to help and guide. Lessons are interactive and initiate insightful discussions and class debates no matter what subject
