SIXTH FORM With the exception of the physics department, who’s lessons where fun and engaging the teaching is nothing special. It breeds not remotely well rounded and sheltered individuals. After attending an average state school elsewhere in Lancashire i feel Clitheroe lacks student support i had previously received and is heavily focused on exam results. There is a serious lack of independence given that all students are over sixteen and some even eighteen. In term of progression after the sixth form there is almost no support with the exception of if you want to go on to study medicine or attend oxbrigde. Overall i would not recommend my exam results in fact decreased since attending clitheroe.
Basically gets lots of clever students in 1 school with average teachers and get good grades. Results are because of a minority of good teachers and the grind of the students themselves
Good school. Especially in terms of medication quality, teachers and average grades acquired. However, students who attend must be resilient. Mental health is often pushed to the side in order to acquire extremely good grades and to work hard. Getting any lower than a 7 and you’re made to feel stupid. Students are often compared and are quite cocky, making you feel inadequate at all times. Although pupils can be rude, most are genuinely nice and it’s easy to make friends. Teachers are great, helpful and extremely nice. Throughout the pandemic they have taken steps however, they have not done enough, however, I do understand that it is difficult. Overall good but mental health is pushed to the side which can be extremely damaging. Especially in my experience.
