City of London Academy Highbury Grove

I would rate the school 2 stars because I feel like some teachers can become a bit aggressive towards students when they get yelled at when it was actually someone else so I basically don’t think students can be heard properly because when a student’s trying to explain to the teacher,teachers either interrupt them or they give them a straight detention.

Secondly, at the begging of year 7, me and my group of friends were getting bullied everyday so we finally decided to go and tell one of the teachers that work for safe guarding and so when we explained what happened to them they said they would go talk to the person that was bullying us.A few days passed and the bullying still carried on and so I went to tell the teacher again and also ask them if they had spoken to the bully and they said no not yet and they would pull us all out of class to discuss everything in front of each other.well guess what THEY NEVER showed UP.so eventually we sorted out the situation but still WHAt WAS SOO MUCH WORSE THAN BULLYING?? That they couldn’t sort out the problem sooner.so what I’m basically saying is that they don’t sort out any of your problems until weeks later 😓

Lastly, I do think some teachers aren’t that bad and just want us to succeed in life,but other teachers like putting everyone’s day down and ruins everyone’s mood.
I feel like some teachers and staff need to understand that everyone has a different way of learning and not everyone is perfect.I also don’t think they should be using aggressive language towards us. Once in one lesson we were literally called morons to our faces.

In conclusion, I would recommend this school to you if you want to get yelled at every five seconds and have teachers put you down.

As a year 7 student do not sign your kids up to this school,unless you want them to come home thinking that they are not good enough or need to do more too fit in with other kids or make the teachers happy.They pressure kids too much,expecting them to do more than they are supposed to do .The staff there are horrible,when it comes to meeting parents they switch their moods and attitudes and mix things up of why they act or behave like that(if they mentioned it).IF a child get PARKED(parked means getting kicked out of class) they will be in isolation for the full day (new rule).I don't know if that's a good thing but if it is then it should be a half day.Full day for getting kicked out from one class doing too much what a joke.So if you want your kids to be miserable for 5/4 yrs then this is the right school for them.

Okay first of all the school doesn't do SHIT about the bullying.
Period.

I suffered sexual assault when I was in year 7 from someone who was a couple years older. I am in year 11 now. But when I reported it in the library to a former teacher named ******** who was also a music teacher he said he didn’t work here and that he couldn’t do anything. He lied. He continued to work here for several years.

I was 11, new and destroyed. This teacher left 1-2 years ago and honestly I’m happy about it. I wish I could take my innocence back

I was also taken out of lesson in year 7 once where the SLT members (Not sure what they stood for but thats the name) forced me to take off my shirt in the changing rooms so they could examine the “bruises” on my body since apparently someone told them I was being “bullied”. I did have troubles in year 7 but I told them I wasn’t comfortable about taking off my shirt in front of them and they didn’t let me leave till I did.


I have many more stories but this should be enough to convince you to NOT send your child off to this school. I’m in my final year and I can’t wait to run away from here. Save your kids mental health and send them somewhere better.
