the school has absolutely no idea how to keep a clean environment apart from the floors and student desks. the toilets are cleaned once a month, the walls in almost every classroom are dirty and even peeling. outside, the floors have chewing gum cemented to them and the school preaches about how the school is a clean environment it is a joke! apart from 2 bathrooms, the entrance door is removed which allows any teacher to walk in to kick everyone out. even if you are going to the toilet they will scream at you until you leave. in the english block, there are only female teachers on duty outside the toilets which means that the boys toilets is a free for all. the boys end up breaking things which leads to loud crashes and bangs, they all shout and laugh and they all make fun of the staff there at the time. the only thing a teacher can do is ask them to leave but they can’t go in as obviously, as a female, it would be a safeguarding issue. the canteen prices are absolutely ridiculous as last year you had a ‘pizza dot’ for 80p, i come back to school and they are now £1.25 and have decreased in size. parents can’t keep paying hundreds of pounds just to support their child’s appetite. if you take your year six child around schools, do not enter chosen hill, your child will be unable to cope with the burden of attending.
This school is central to family conflict and upset. As a parent I find myself worrying and being hounded about the pettiest thing, and engaging in email wars around unjust detentions.
God forbid if your child is missing or loses a certain pen, 2 strikes and they're in after school detention!
Pupils given strikes for looking in the wrong direction, speaking, asking questions, finding their work difficult and asking questions, and needing to use the rest room is out of the question.
My child recieved a detention because the teacher was hoping another child would confess to taking someone's pencil case, when the other child didn't, mine had to attend the detention despite the teachers assuring me it had been revoked.
Hounded by emails each day! My child was very poorly last year, bed ridden for 10 days, I was contacted by the school abscence officer daily, made to feel I was doing something wrong, or lying about their sickness!
They do not communicate effectively with the children, parent's, or each other and have unrealistic expectations of both the pupils and parents.
This school does not reinforce positive behaviour, achievements are over shadowed by a sea of red on their class charts for minimal crimes, as stated above.
This is a very stressful, very annoying and very frustrating school to interact with.
My child is well behaved, I couldn't imagine what parents of children with behavioural concerns or additional emotional/learning needs must face! I can only believe the punishment for a sustainable poor behaviour must be suspension/ exclusion, because after school detentions are full of students which did nothing/little wrong!
I send my daughter to chosen hill.Because I thought it was a great school. But unfortunately this wasn't the case. The school has made false allegations up regarding my daughter. And went on to phone social services with more false allegations.Even thou the false allegations was over turned. They didn't stop to the point social services kept on getting avoided. To the point social services wasn't interested anymore. The teachers within the school should be fully investigated. As they are unfit to be teaching children. Getting in trouble for needing to go to the toilet. And than being made to face the wall all day with out any dinner. Bullying is allowed to go on within the school. And if you report it you are the problem.you are not allowed to speak up for your child as they believe the school should deal with it.please don't sent you're children to this school. This school should be shut down.
Terrible when it comes to mental health, complained about having no money and acted like it was our fault, called my parents when was told everything I would tell them was confidential and they knew that it would make it worse. Avoid.
The bathrooms don’t have doors so you can hear people. A lot of the male students are really to the female students saying stuff like “you have to get pregnant you’re not strong you belong in a kitchen” and the staff don’t do anything. The staff are quite sexist too like if it’s a female teacher they’ll always go to the female students first and let them go to the toilets but don’t let the male students do anything and if it’s a male teacher it’s the other way round. You have to wear white socks otherwise you get isolation. If you’re late once you get detention, twice another detention three times, isolation four times isolation, after school detention, get put on a report card, and the school has a meeting with your parents. The teachers don’t respect the students they say whatever and they want and always target people. Like this one teacher called someone a tramp because their tie wasn’t eight stripes. No one can afford food in school because it’s too expensive. I’ve lost loads of weight and can’t eat properly anymore because I can’t afford to eat in school so I only eat one meal a day. There’s gum on the tables and the toilets are rarely cleaned. Also, the some of the teachers are racist and creepy. I’ve been put in isolation because I was too tired to concentrate ( I have an iron deficiency ) and my double vision was playing up so I couldn’t see what I was doing. In the canteen line you can barely breathe because there is no space and people push in. I asked for a councillor for two years and I’ve only just got one. Some people have been waiting longer and still don’t have one. And that’s all I can think of for now
When my son was there I had nothing but hassles from certain members of staff. They hate being stood up to! Senior members of staff making threats, acting unprofessionally, sweeping complaints under the carpet to protect each other, bad leadership, not doing their job, corrupt beyond belief. All this from a parents perspective. Absolutely no moral standards towards parents. I personally would strongly advise against sending your kids here. As I say this was my experience but I know for a fact that many other parents had the same experience. A failing head teacher that was actually made director for education!! The list of failings for this school is endless. Needs to be shut down.
This school is terrible. Teachers are mean to you until you reach sixth form, toilets are in a terrible state and they try to cover up stuff which some students do from the police. Food in the canteen is actual sludge. Students not teachers respect eachother making it a toxic atmosphere. My friend wasn't taught at all in biology. My friend's teacher told them to go on their phones and research and the teacher did nothing. Was bullied constantly even In front of teachers but they didn't do anything whatsoever.
teachers are setting way to much work, it’s stressing me out a lot and i’m finding it hard to cope, it’s extremely homophobic and i’m scared to come out as non binary and i don’t think the school will change my pronouns
My experience at this school was awful- horrific bullying, theft etc with practically no support. It became too unsafe for me to be on my own and nothing was done. Grades are terrible, some teachers hardly mark work and the school as a whole seems to be in the habit of putting students down. There’s no safeguarding, no support, nothing.
This school doesn’t even allow us to wear masks inside lessons, where we are next to other classes the most. We are also given this really bad smelling hand sanitizer
Teachers don’t deal with issues like bullying well and focus on the pettiest stuff instead more serious stuff. Behaviour is bad and overall exam results are low.
