Ok school
Good school, however has had a number of sexual assault cases and a history of mismanagement of racism and homophobia. The school teaches music well and the education is to a high standard, boarding staff are nice and understanding. The school often cares more about its reputation than the pupils.
Awful head of school! Drinking culture at chets
The head of school (NS) has caused huge problems and ruined the Chetham’s name. She has very rapid mood swings that effect her students and staff too. There is a large issue surrounding underage drinking at this school and although the staff are aware of it students aren’t often “sanctioned” for this. It goes unpunished and even unmentioned a number of times and then due to** mood swings you can go from good student with good school reports to suspended. This has happened a lot at chets. Large numbers of students would also be suspended (or gated - grounded) without reason or evidence. Which does support bullies at chethams. The school itself is very good, excellent academics, music, facilities and as I say lovely staff but this is being ruined by this head.
FORMIDABLE!
Phenomenal experience throughout my 6 years here so far. Handled the pandemic amazingly (so far)
