Awful school

It was honestly the most horrific experience I’ve ever had. The teachers honestly could not care less about the students and instead focus on making the school appear to look good when in reality it has been on a rapid decline for years.

Horrific

Attending Chesterfield High School has been an experience I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. This institution has somehow managed to combine the oppressive atmosphere of a WWII German prison camp with the pretentious airs of an elite private school. It's a paradox that, unfortunately, results in a deeply unpleasant environment for students.

Firstly, let's address the ambiance. Chesterfield High seems to have taken inspiration from the most authoritarian regimes. The rules are excessively strict, with surveillance cameras in every hallway and a dress code that makes us look like we're perpetually stuck in 1940s austerity. Any minor infraction is met with a disproportionate response from the administration, who seem more interested in exerting their authority than fostering a healthy learning environment. The lack of freedom and the constant feeling of being watched make it difficult to focus on academics, much like the oppressive conditions prisoners faced during WWII.

Furthermore, Chesterfield High has an inflated sense of its own prestige. The administration and faculty seem to be under the illusion that they are running an elite private institution. They impose exorbitant fees for extracurricular activities and mandatory "donations" for school events, which are nothing more than thinly veiled attempts to milk more money from already struggling families. This pretense of being a high-end private school is not only delusional but also alienates students who come from less privileged backgrounds.

Despite these high costs, the quality of education is subpar. Teachers are overworked and underpaid, leading to burnout and a noticeable lack of enthusiasm in the classroom. Resources are scarce, and the facilities, while aesthetically pleasing, are outdated and insufficient for a school that claims to offer a top-tier education.

In conclusion, Chesterfield High School's attempt to combine the worst elements of a WWII German prison camp and an elite private school results in an oppressive, overpriced, and underwhelming educational experience. If you're looking for a nurturing, supportive, and genuinely enriching school environment, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.

Bad school

Mother of two that attend this school, both struggle academically currently whereas in primary school they did perfectly fine. Also have been given feedback from both that school is not enjoyable 100% of the time because of factors such as teachers and rules.

NEVER COME HERE [I warn you]

Do not here please as a student it is clear how bad it is since the fact the bullying is horrendous and they dont do anything about it other than the fact they get a real stern talking to and if you couldn't tell that is sarcasm due to the fact it kept happening over and over again with nothing being done other than me being told to write a complaint about it which they never do anything about and their wellbeing team try to victim blame and bully you into thinking its your fault saying stuff like it's not all about you or maybe they were havin a laugh their words not mine and the sports and extra curriculum are soke of the worst I've seen and laughable due to the fact thr extra curriculum basically is just footy and even that gets cancelled every week and the sports in pe are horrible since its not the fact you don't even learn any of the skills in the sport or if you do it's poorly taught and don't know so the people who like the sport don't get a chance to play it properly since it's unplayable when people are messing about and nothing is done about it besides that this school is great if you want depression anxiety ptsd adhd and screw it let's add in schizophrenia while we are at it

Horrendous high school

During my time at Chesterfield I can honestly say it isn’t a stretch to compare it to a WW2 prison camp, the constant reaching to try and act like a private school just damages the students mentally and the strictness is ridiculous. Honestly can’t recommend staying away from this school enough if you value your child’s mental health, bullying is NOT dealt with at all and in fact your child may end up getting into trouble instead of the bully.

A lot of teachers left over my time here and it was a very telling sign, even one of the old heads admitted that he hated the school and wished to move on. This school is on a continuing decline and there seems to be more and more mistakes.

Teachers come and go CONSTANTLY and it’s no surprise considering how awful this place is, sly tactics telling the students to do lots of extra things just to please Ofsted doesn’t seem to be washing anymore.

gave me the worst experience of my life

honestly this school gave me depression, not even a joke
rife with bullies and the teachers do nothing to sort it out
no accomodation for mental health issues and nobody to talk to for it
if youre thinking of coming here, as a former student, i cant recommend it any less than i do now

Great school.

Staff are supportive and the safeguarding officers (of which there are plenty) make their presence known to students so that we can seek guidance when we need to. I'm extremely grateful to all the staff at Chesterfield and I guarantee I would not have achieved such good GCSE grades anywhere else. It can be quite strict to some at first, but students soon learn that the rules are there to help them achieve their highest goals, and it is not difficult to fit in.
