Since the introduction of MTS and KB the school has gone downhill massively. A complete and utter disregard for the well-being of both staff and students, which has led to a high turnover of good teachers at this establishment. More concerned about appearances and ticking boxes, the school runs on a culture of anxiety and fear. If you are not a ‘yes’ person or your face does not fit, you are bullied out. Gross abuse of power by the former head and current head teacher… how they were able to mercilessly bully staff and permanently exclude the level of ‘undesirable’ pupils they did boggles the mind. Was part of a strong department at this school. Did not receive so much as a ‘thank you’ card upon my leaving. Absolute disgrace.
Some teachers are quite nice but some think they own the world. Also they expect u to just know everything and how to do everything. Most teachers can’t teach. All together a pretty bad school apart from a few departments.
They let all people with disabilities just get bullied even physically and the teachers saw and did nothing. That’s why I left. I would rate 0 stars if I could.
A total mess. If you have to go here find one of the rare, decent, inspiring teachers and cling on to them, because they are few and far between. Does the whole tick-box cookie-cutter appearance for the benefit of outsiders, but bullied mercilessly throughout my time there, ridiculously high level of annual teacher turnover ( count yourself fortunate if you have full-time science teacher for a quarter of the year). Ruined my career plans, majority of my year decided to leave as the situation was so dismal at the end of year 11. My education there summed up in a quote from my science teacher to the entire GCSE further science class, “I won’t be doing revision sessions after school or during break because it doesn’t benefit me in any way and I am not making any money out of it”. I wish I was joking.
Additional events of interest- a student defacating in a sink, leading to windows being put on toilet doors, locking all toilets because students threw wet toilet paper at mirrors (menstruating students had no access to facilities), windows would tend to be smashed and cracked for longer durations than when they were intact. Such consistent intrusive behaviour to fellow students learning from some pupils that I was so accustomed to interruptions that I thought someone had died at my sixth form because of how subdued students were. Turns out it was just an adequate learning environment. Avoid at all cost if you would like a future outside of Tesco (English department was alright though).
School in general is better than my previous, students are a lot nicer and so are teachers.
Altho they are very strict on uniform and piercings
Deputy head (female) thinks she’s all it and that she’s in charge of everyone and everything
