my friends go and they tell me that its a rough school and that its unsanitary, lots of fights, lots of rude students and wrong behavior. Not sure but hope this helps
There is a kind and caring atmosphere at this school. As with most schools, the staff are also academically ambitious for the kids. My children have had a great experience in this school, especially in the 6th form which is so well run. A lot of 6th form classes are tiny - like in a private school!
Its personally not the best school, when i was in year 7 I had a horrible french teacher who would give people detentions for getting under 80% even if people from other schools didnt know french, made people cry multiple times and more.
Another thing that I don’t like about the school is something from personal experience
Me and my friends went shopping while we were year 8, some other kids in our year started following us around, calling us tramps, and other offensive things. When we took it to the school, they sided with the other people as if we had been following them around and said “If I hear any more about this you will all get a detention.” which was stupid considering half of us hadn’t done anything.
There have been quite a few incidents like this that I’ve heard of.
On top of all this, even if you have a note in your planner with a valid reason not to do pe like a sprained ankle, nerve damage or anything like that, you will still be made to change. In the pe department room they literally have a poster saying “Well enough to come into school, well enough to do pe.” and have told us numerous times just to “not come in” if we can’t do pe.
The teachers constantly ignore homophobic or racist things stated, even if its right infront of their faces. I have been called the f slur numerous times infront of teachers and they don’t even care.
The counselling system isn’t really that good either. You get 8 weeks with s counsellor then they don’t do anything unless your parents ask for another 8 weeks. They also forget/aren’t in a lot of the time and this coincidentally is when i probably need them most. My old counsellor left halfway through our 8 weeks, after I actually got comfortable
Overall the food is literally the only good thing about it
I left the school last year and can’t emphasise enough what a great experience I had there. The school has a great community feel, particularly in the sixth form, the teachers really care about their students and generally have a very good standard of teaching. The head teacher runs the school extremely well and is very involved with the students.
Whist I was at the school I had many opportunities to join clubs, do sports and go on trips.
I also had a lot of support when applying for universities.
This is a very welcoming and lovely school 🏫. I really recommend sending your child here because they are great with life issues and understanding. They are also really helpful with learning disabilities such as autism and ADHD.
Pretty awesome school, I recommend it. They have awesome teachers that always push the students to achieve all that they can, pretty average size classes, none are too big with up to 30 students per class. Bullying is handled well. Not much to say other than it’s a great school.
