This school doesn’t care for your mental health I was struggling with it with sh and very bad anxiety and all they did was tell me off for it and didn’t help me. And then they would constantly check me and if I refused I would be put into isolation until I let someone see. It was not nice and when they did a assembly on sh they pointed out what they would do like take care of you support you but they never did they said that to get the students to confess they did it. Another story is younger yr 7 was in the corridor getting trampled while a fight was going on and all the teacher had to say was get ur gonna be late. Who actually says that? Another one is that a key stage 4 leadership teacher had called a black person the n word. And the school did nothing bc here was no “proof” and then the same teacher grabbed a student by the collar and dragged them through the corridor, again there was no “prrof” even though there are security cameras every where and finally getting fired bc one of the students filmed her slapping another kid on the thigh twice to stop her restraining her for having a fight with another student. And only bc a student saw and someone filmed it they had to fire her otherwise she wouldn’t be fired. That’s how bad the school is they would rather keep a violent racist rather then fire her and find a respectful caring in a non paedo way.
Based on personal experience and the experiences of my sibling, I have found that the majority of the members of staff have not been trained correctly to handle nerodivergent students or students with learning disabilities. If a classroom gets too overwhelming, I will enter and autistic overload and will shut down. Many teachers are not trained to deal with this and it needs to be fixed before another student gets told off for struggling. Another point is the denial of dyslexia tests. I have asked the school to test me for dyslexia and they have not. My vision is declining and my optometrist has asked I get tested and yet the school denies me. A final point is the lack of empathy and care for the students. This school has hired a few pastoral managers that, to put it nicely, are not very good at their job. I'm my personal expert with my pastoral manager, many students present this person with their problems, for example, feeling faint, a feeling to need to vomit, a terrible cough, and looking very pale to the face. This is the typical reason students go to our pastoral manager. Their typical response is along the lines of 'I'll call your parents and see if I can get you some paracetamol. I'll come get you when they answer.' Many students will go the whole day without hearing from our pastoral manager, meanwhile their condition declines, only to get home that afternoon to find their parents never received any contact from the school whatsoever. Not even a missed call. Another repoint is that I get frequent asthma attacks, not severe enough for the hospital, but severe enough to be sent home. Whilst this goes on, my common symptoms are dizziness, feeling faint, going pale, difficulty breathing (obviously) and a few more. When I have an asthma attack, it is difficult to walk or to keep my eyes open due to fatigue from lack of oxygen. My pastoral manager's typically response to this is 'there is nothing wrong with your eyes, keep them open and keep walking!' And 'there is nothing wrong with your legs, why aren't you walking right! It's your breathing thats the problem, not your legs!' This is unacceptable and needs to change. This secondary school does not train their staff enough or correctly and this needs to change before we start raising kids to be incapable adults purely based on neglect towards their mental, physical, and emotional heath as well as nerodivergencies and so much more. I could comment on many other problems with this school, but I think the staff are problem enough. Of course, this doesn't apply to all of the members of staff, but I must say that it is enough of them. I'm too nice to give someone 1 star, so I give them 2, but I would give them a one if I wasn't so nice.
Chantry academy cares more about uniform then students racially abusing others, or attacking others for their sexuality. They do not care for your struggles only if your in lessons on time. Teachers will laugh in your face if you have body issues and can not change for pe (personal experience). Some of the teachers are okay and understanding but the cons out weight the pros with this school.
It’s ok?? They are bothered about your education but only give you links to videos which doesn’t really help. As somebody who suffers from mental health problems they didn’t take much action, they only made it worse to be honest.
Teachers only help you if you are one of the misbehaved children. As an introverted individual it was a struggle to seek any kind of attention from teachers when for example i needed help, teachers are 99% focused on those who do not care about whether they pass their exams or not. Bullying wasn’t treated in the way it should, my friends were bullied but experienced no help, unless it was the odd ‘do you want me to call your mum?’. Only positive is that I didn’t do my exams because of COVID, but still passed them all.
Not that great , teachers don’t really help with stuff that matters like bullying and just say,”don’t do it agian” .As a child who has just joined drama has started since September and teachers never try to help and just tell the kids their in secondary not primary so they can sort it out. office lady isn’t very nice
As someone who deals with bad mental health and a physical disability, there isnt much help at all. Lots of the teachers dont listen to the students and/or give the wrong help. Not a good school.
