Catmose College

This school is horrible and i would not recommend sending your child here unless you want your child to come home crying daily. Somehow this behaviour has bypassed ofsted. The uniform rules are an absolute joke and are no way related to how a student learns. The teaching leaders only want to feel higher than the students and have authority even when a student is having a conversation.

Pretentious school with know concerns for children well-being or reaching out to parents. they rule through fear and and prison camp type punishments. Vice principal is arrogant aggressive and defensive and has no intension of supporting children's well-being. its obviously an inconvenience to the school's data and how things look to the outside world. Unfortunately there isn't any competition for the school really in the area which in my opinion enforces their arrogant, untouchable and defensive approach when challenged over concerns.

Leaders are hard to deal with. School is more interested in how it appears than what’s best for the children. Don’t take well-being of the children seriously and vertically make impossible for you get a meeting. Dealing with there so called client services is like dealing with a bad call Center. The report things wrong don’t pass on messages and can be very rude. Head is never available and I can’t get a meeting with him at any cost so have staring a complaint has it’s been made so difficult.

A review from a student who has been at this school for a few years

I was a teacher at the school for a while thank goodness I didn’t stay long. I was employed to cover staff who were on maternity leave. I later found out that at least one had had a mental breakdown due to working in such horrible conditions I have never again worked in such a school with bullying rife among pupils and staff. I only remained for seven months, I couldn’t have stayed any longer. I felt so sorry for some of the quieter kids who had to survive in, what seemed to many, as a cross between a prison camp and a lunatic asylum. Young staff were promoted too early and given no support many seemed exhausted and were criticised when they asked for help. Experienced older staff were under minded by senior management and pushed out. There was a culture of put up or shut up!
With many pupils showing mental issues and drug taking rife though unspoken about.
That was a number of years ago, sorry to see that it doesn’t seem to have changed due to awful leadership.

i had attended catmose for 5 years and have just finished my gcses, client services always say they will be there to help and support you but the support they give is not helpful at all, it’s like a plaster on an amputated leg- not helpful at all, the school overall is a crap show. most students in foundation levels don’t get as much help as the higher level students because ‘they have harder work and are more important’ client services has done nothing but made my school life more difficult than it already was, since starting catmose i had been diagnosed with depression and anxiety because of the school, the school does nothing but make the students want to leave to a better, different school and they do nothing about the mental health factor of the students, i know that some of my friends in lower years and myself have been struggling with life at home and our mental health but catmose doesn’t do anything about it, not even call someone to get us actually help because we can’t call anyone, catmose doesn’t do anything and i’m pretty sure it never will. at lunch i sat near this girl i knew and all her food had mould on it, because she already bought the food she went back to complain but she couldn’t get anything else to eat so she went the whole day without food because client services wouldn’t do anything about the mould and neither would the lunch ladies. catmose in my opinion, and i’m pretty sure most people’s that go there or went there, is a crap school and it shouldn’t be able to run the way it is, i have no idea how ofsted claimed it to be outstanding when our opinions of that school are outstandingly terrible.

Absolutely astonishing! Never has there been such a terrible school that attempts to present the idea of a good reputation. In protecting itself: it doesn’t even act to deal with bullying - actively protecting the bullies and blaming the victims; students are forced into paths they don’t want to take; and the administration is only interested in what will make them look good and secure a fat pay check. Sports is the only priority and for that they sacrifice all human decency. I know I’m not the only student who thinks this and quite frankly I’d rather see “the prison” shut down for good than have to think of all the poor students being lulled into that hell.
