As a former student there, I say don’t send your kids here.
For cases there is a child or two in each class who isn’t getting the help they need and is therefore disturbing the class. Sometimes even proving as a danger or threat.
The food there was absolutely disgusting.
It does it’s job. I guess. You learn. But they take a blind eye to anyone who is struggling.
As a student who came from another school when I was 7, I knew a lot more. Therefore I learnt nothing. They do not help you with anything like 11+ (exam). And if your teacher wants to support you they have to spend their own time and money.
People quite quickly make enemies (that can’t really be stopped) and form gangs that are rude and beat each other up. This makes students not feel safe there.
I’m not even going to talk about the bullying. I have seen many people being harassed and been able to do nothing. They say tell a teacher, but that will get you labelled as a ‘snitch’ and the bullying will get worse.
(I haven’t actually been bullied but I have seen it a lot too much.)
The teachers are rude as well. With some even calling friends of mine ‘stupid’ and one saying that a friend had ‘something wrong with him’ and ‘things going on at home’ when he did not.
I have been told that I am a disappointment before. They compare you to other students a lot.
The teachers often call each other ‘stupid woman/men’ as well.
The hygiene is really bad there.
Another thing that I’m sure some people want me to say is that in the outside girls toilets, they have to share with the reception girls and boys. There is drawings all over the walls, toilets that haven’t been flushed, no toilet paper, bad water pressure if there is any at all, and a broken window that isn’t going to be fixed.
If you go into their playground, there will be a bus. It is used as a ‘library’ although you can find children running around trying to make it fall over, gangs selling things and kids screaming. There is ripped up seats, mold, and a broken window that could be hazardous(one the top floor.)
In classes that are on the top floor, there is mould, a broken lift, and maggots on the sealing.
Going back to my fist point, (about kids with learning difficulties) some have to be held back from fighting and hitting other students. There may be cases when I don’t agree with this like how a classmate was having a panic attack because a friend said something (not really my business) and slt (the office) were called in to ‘take him away’ instead of comforting him and giving him the help he needs.
That sort of sums it all up. Don’t go here. If you can, send you kid(s) to Redhill. It’s around the same area and is much better.
