Carrick Academy

It’s a school. When I was a student a few months ago I was bullied, the guidance department was lovely and did help. The senior management team were okay. The headteacher didn’t want to know us so when we graduated her speech was all about hope etc, she never knew any of our names because what’s the point. Music, art, D&T and english department were always the best, they were so calming and kind. PE department picked favourites but still knew you even if you didn’t take PE (they were very good) IT and modern languages had the best teachers and same with maths and music. Schools got a weird layout and makes alright coffees, which you’re not aloud in class so you have to chug it during break. You’re not aloud hoodies on so when it’s winter and all the window are open you’re gonna be freezing, some teachers were fine with it though, just don’t let SMT catch you with it on or you’ll be shouted at. Also no phones or earphones aloud in class (annoying) They encouraged higher education so much though and I really appreciate that. They also ask for suggestions, don’t take them on board and wonder why everyone is annoyed, ie. prom, majority voted to go to a very pretty place in Troon for prom, they messed the booking up and now we’re going to a less pretty area across from the main road. It’s a good school for the area, could do more for mental health (not just the walks or awareness week, real things) I did enjoy my six years at Carrick but I also didn’t fully experience it all because of covid and the very late booking for leavers hoodies.
