I didn’t know this school existed until I went to the leeds career fest with my school. The students clearly lack knowledge on racism. The teachers were too scared to even get involved to sort their students out. Absolute mess. To think we would tolerate racism from people we don’t know! Sort it out and teach ur students respect! Absolute disgrace of a school. Ruined a lot people’s day and left some upset and angry due to the comments made by YOUR students.

It was so mu ch better back when it was failing it’s Ofsted ratings, now that Ofsted think it’s good all the good teachers have left and all the kids hate themselves.

Depressing experience
Do not send your child to this school if at all possible.
My daughter is currently doing her exams and I feel that I cannot stay quiet any longer.
This school is terrible, it just seems to me to be a money making scheme using kids and education to rip off parents in a struggling community.
They treat their students like crap using any excuse to give them detention, causing the students anxiety at home and worrying the parents who don't know where their kids are.
They put children they can't be bothered to deal with in Isolation, they actually have an Isolation room where they stick badly behaved kids, as if they are in a cell serving a prison centence.
They charge for flipping everything, and the prices for things are extortionate. You would think with what they charge for things and the things they expect you to buy that it was a school for rich kids, but noone with money in their right mind would send their kids to this school.
School trips are disgustingly expensive leaving most parents unable to pay for them, only the wealthiest 1% of kids in the school get to go. For what they want for one week in France I could stop there for a month.
5 years ago It failed an Ofstead review and they changed the Headteacher to someone new called Jo Cross and now all you ever read in the media is how much the school has improved and how well the students are doing (Ofstead said "the most improved school in england") its all absolute lies, students are struggling and don't get the support that they need, parents are struggling to pay for everything and they feel like they are failing their children, as they cannot keep up with the schools financial demands.
None of this surprises me as Jo Cross is backed by Yevett Cooper who is our local MP and she has made her career through the lies and manipulation of the people of Wakefield.
On the subject of supporting the kids out of school hours, It doesn't really happen except for the odd revision club here and there, nothing on weekends. But they will expect children in their last year to give up their holidays to come into school and revise, they don't seem to care about giving people doing their exams time to de-stress.
Food at the school is shocking for the prices they charge and I often find myself giving my kid a packed lunch as I just cannot afford to keep paying their extortionate prices for basic food.
Bullying is a problem that teachers just do not want to deal with so instead they get the police involved, causing I'm sure all sorts of psychological damage for the kids in the long term. In year 8 my kid was dealing with a group of bullies and the school wouldn't do anything about it, they actually advised me to report these kids to the police. Of course I didn't, I spoke with their parents.
Kings is just as bad from everything I've heard from other parents who's kids go there.
In short, if you live in pontefract, send your kids out of town, if you can. I tried to do this myself but the system is rigged against you, all the local high schools said they were full and could not take her because the local authorities had given her a position at Carlton High.

School bullying resolution problem
During my 3 years so faf i havd been persistantly bullied and school will not solve the issue. I have also been bullied online by the same pupild and nothing is done to fix the issue.

Absolute sh*thole, and I mean literally. The horse faced headteacher treats this place as an actual farm. Wouldn’t recommend. A disgrace to the community. Jo needs to cross those school gates and never return

Support was basically non-existent for Year 11’s.
Long story put short, the pressure and lack of support in Year 11 caused my mental health to spiral downwards. It eventually got to the point where I was having anxiety attacks every single night, and where I was becoming physically ill because of the stress.
Some of the teachers were really kind though, and helped wherever they could despite the fact that the support system is/was in tatters.
