Not that bad tbh.

Didn’t really like it at the time, but I guess everyone hates their school when their a teenager.

Looking back on it now, it was actually pretty fun with some really nice teachers. They actually care about students + want them to do well.

Cardiff high.

I love Cardiff high however there’s a student toilet where more than half the doors don’t close properly or have a large gap where people can see through which is an invasion of our privacy. However, I am glad CCTV was taken out of the toilets!:) Other than that, the staff are supportive and kind, facilities are lovely and classrooms are comfortable.

Cardiff high school

I’m a student in Cardiff high school and I can say that the school is good but don’t always priorities our mental health and well being like they say they do. Firstly the school have made me and other fellow students extremely uncomfortable about our skirt lengths and even telling all of us we look like strippers which made me and my peers feeling sick to our stomachs. They also only care about there appearance, last year I got cyber bullied and I talked to them about it and they told me they couldn’t do anything about it because it happened outside of school! This made me feel like I could speak to any of the teachers about my health and well being because I feel like they will always just turn me away like they’ve done previously. Gcse grades turn out fine but they never give any Praise to the children who have worked hard to get them grades, they just praise themselves. From the outside of the school it looks like a very clean, almost posh looking school. However, some parts of the inside are just unbelievable, there aren’t any toilet seats so you have to hover, there are cameras in the toilets and there’s a lot of mold in some area’s of the school. Moving on to the teachers, some teachers are really great people which have helped me along the way through high school, however some teachers think they have a right to say what they want, there are many raciest teachers who pick on children of colour and think they can get away with it. Some teachers are also extreme obnoxious and quite bratty in a way. If the teachers don’t start realise there behaviour, their only going to start influencing children to start that behaviour as well. The food is also extremely overpriced for the amount your getting and is probably worth just bringing your own meals in!

If Your Face Fits

As a former student from many decades ago I can see from other reviews nothing has changed at Cardiff High School. Grades and reputation go before duty of care to pupils. In fact teachers unashamedly split classes into those they favoured and those they didn’t. Students were told to leave the school before taking exams, GCSE and A Level if they were likely to achieve a grade of C or below. So, yes, the academic tables were good but THAT’S the reason why - as well as the majority of pupils were able to afford tutors.
The number of pupils who were over looked, bullied and openly made fun of by TEACHERS was made to feel like the norm. Only looking back now do we see what we survived.

from a former student.

while academically the students tend to perform well, the environment in which you learn is absolutely awful. all focus is put on grades and very little on what genuinely matters. senior staff are utterly hypocritical and turn a blind eye to the blatant racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and ableism with all focus put on completely unimportant matters like uniform. from year 7 i was ridiculed and shamed by male teachers about my skirt length, naturally making me utterly uncomfortable due to the fact that they were even paying attention to such things on a child. from year 7 i equally received racism, sexism and homophobia from students, none of which were dealt with or ever noticed despite the school claiming that they are inclusive and prioritise the mental health of their students. alas, as someone who has been hitherto submerged in this cesspool i can confirm this to be the utter opposite of the case. on top of this, i know from friends who have remained in the sixth form that many of the teachers are complete rape apologists, who don’t take sexual assault seriously and care more about people who have literally sexually assaulted other students due to fear of them being ‘bullied’ than the people they have literally attacked. s/a is common both in and out of school grounds from many male students and the school time and time again turn a blind eye to it, many of the students equally openly choose to be friends with these people. all considered, how on earth cardiff high school is considered the best in cardiff i haven’t a clue.

Uh idk

I mean the actual teaching can be okay according to like statistics and stuff but the teachers care way to much about irrelevant stuff, like if you wear the wrong colour socks they will try to tell you that it means your a failure and a disappointment or something stupid like that. Also lots of the students are homophobic, sexist, racist and ableist but the teachers really don’t care. Oh also they spend loads of money on the front of the school but in the science rooms the tables are so scribbled that you can’t write properly because of the dents in the tables

It’s awful

If you aren’t from the area, you will find yourself on your own a lot and bullied badly - teachers will turn a blind eye and try and give as little help to you possible, but when you mess up they will go after you like bloody hawks, and I seriously mean it could mentally hurt you, very badly. If you have a loud mouth, good at sports and like messing around, you will love it there. But if you are the quiet kid you are going to get hurt, A LOT. I have to say the education is good, but the environment is awful.

Cardiff High School

When you are achieving high and in Set 2, even if you are better than Set 1 they don’t move you up for ages! And the work in maths is way too easy. Focus on Rugby isn’t fair for people who like other sports. Not all people like Rugby. Sometimes Teachers can be unfair and rude, and obnoxious but mostly they are alright, it’s just a small handful of women who realised they wasted their lives and are putting their anger on the Pakistani students such as me. Oh well I guess, best in Cardiff apparently. Needs to stop forcing welsh gcse aswell. No one wants to learn welsh, irrelevant language
