Excellent

Excellent school. Staff are really supportive. Pupils are given lots of opportunities to explore interests and to develop academically. Highly recommended.

Worse school to go to. Since becoming athena trust its worse than a prison easier in prison. Suspending students for the silliest reasons! Reflection renamed from isolation. Kids mental healths are horrendous.

Dont send kids here!!

please please please do not send your kids here. i have been bullied here frequently and the teachers have refused to do anything about it. most kids cant get lunches because of ALL YEARS going for break and lunch at the same time and if they come in late from getting a late lunch theyre punished, most of the teachers shouldnt be around kids. the school is making it impossible to learn because you get told off for the littlest thing, and this isnt coming from a bad kid ive always been polite and i never speak out in class. Please, for the sake of your kids wellbeing do not send them here.

Don't send your child here.

I would give no stars if I could. I will never, ever forgive them for what they have done to my child. Although the teachers are generally professional and enthusiastic, the school is very badly managed and doesn't care about the welfare of its students. The leadership team are petty and dogmatic and complaints are ignored.

terrible school, don't recommend

this school is terrible. no words. the rules are ridiculous and genuinely useless, staff are rude and don't care about students feelings which leads to students of young ages to depression and bad mental health. you get punished for any little thing we do nowadays. had a test today, last period and they let us out 20 minutes late. sorry If I have "offended" any staff but i hate to break it to you, this school aint it, and in the direction we are going will never get better. don't attend here it's not worth it at all. the rules here are stupid, can't speak in the library, you need to ask to have a drink, and can't use toilet in lesson. teachers need to step up their game a bit cause most people in this school feel the same way I do.

camborne school

being a past student my time at this school was shocking all they care about is the grades and nothing else you will end up in IE for anything from things like missing a detention and to having the wrong colour hair or haircut . A friend of mine got attacked by someone in the year above at the time and all they did was punish her and not the person who did it, this is disgraceful . They are not at all worried about excluding students, this happens on the daily base due to it bringing down there reputation and grades they think there a high end school now having nexus treating them with metal cutlery and plates we get ours served in cardboard boxes and cardboard cutlery this is shocking the way they treat us to them. On the other hand the teachers there are some really lovely teachers but also most of them talk to you like rubbish and will not treat you with any respect and wonder why students will mouth of back.

The unfair rules

I go to nexus, the other site at the school and what I say applies to nexus and the main site. They seem to care only about uniform. For example at nexus it is possible to get a detention for not wearing your nexus specific badge. They always remind us on rules of uniform and have stopped us from wearing certain types of shoes because they are not "sturdy enough". They day that people who see us walking past in the morning and evening care about what we look like. However, the people only care if we are behaving badly which I agree should not happen. They do not allow you to go to the toilet in lessons unless you have a toilet card, which I have never seen being given to anyone. I think this is completely unfair as girls who are on their period cannot simply just "go at break" and after break is when we will need the toilet because it's when our food has digested. They give you a detention if you forget your p.e kit one time. My family has said that this is not a good rule as they forget to bring things to work. It is completely unfair that they expect teenagers to do something not even some adults can do. If you forget it three times, you'll get isolation which is, in my opinion, unfair. They have added a lot of new rules that I don't agree with. Some rules are fair enough though. Students shouldn't be rolling their skirts up or vaping or smoking in school bathrooms. They shouldn't use things as weapons against eachother. And so on. But I think that the school could do a lot better honestly.

already wanted to die but they made me want to die even more

i went here for five years and it sucked. the first day of year 11 i tried committing suicide and the next day i told a teacher and she laughed in my face and told me to go to lesson. the pastoral team in year 11 (2020-2021) were so awful they traumatised me. i had detention for not doing homework when i wasn't even there when it was set and the head of detention that year wouldn't listen to me and said "why do you keep skipping this detention" and i said "i don't want to be alive anymore" and he said that's not an excuse. my psw that year she kept on making everything about her. she always said "i went through that when i was your age you'll get over it, schools more important." a few weeks before my EXAMS started i was in science and the whole pastoral team pulled me out all because i had a black hoodie on underneath my blazer. i was brought to the head of year and was forced to take my hoodie off infront of his classroom full of year 8s, and i had self harm scars all down my arm, even scars from the night before that i had done to myself. the head of detention told me to stop having a panic attack, and i said no i'm fed up i wanna get my dad to talk to all of you. the head of detention then said "your dad won't do anything" and i said "yeah he's in the army and i'm his daughter." it was like a teacher was trying to have a fight with my dad😂😂. don't go to this school i've got a lot more stories and i'm traumatised by this school i get nightmares and i hear my teachers voices in my head saying i'm going to fail everything. go hayle school instead

Alright,

If your academic they will worship you but as soon as you don’t wear the wrong uniform they will Verbally attack you and with hold a grudge with you forever, the nurse is horrible, I fell over in pe and went to the nurse, turns out I had broken it. She gave me a paper towel and sent me on my way to the next lesson. You get the odd good teacher but most just leave within the first year because they never actually do the subject they want bc they just get used as a supply. But an okay school. It’s big tho

:))))))))

The school is average, most teachers are there for you, and are very funny and just seeing them can make ur day, whilst on the other hand, the school is very poor with dealing with things, such as bullying and SA. For example they let the ppl go blaming their "mental health" .

Ok School but needs work on it

Quite a good school with great teachers and teaching assistants as well which is good for me as I have Autism.

But the school have been quite lax over bullying issues which are slowly being resolved by Pastoral Support from all years.

Stay away from Year 7's because duh.

I hate that place. I hope the worst of it

all they care about is our uniform and equipment. they don't care about our well being. I had a friend that was self harming because of school and ended up telling the school about it because they couldn't handle it any more. the school did nothing. I once wore ankle socks because I can't afford normal socks and I got shouted at for it, like the kids will get turned on by my ankle! as a trans kid, teachers do nothing appart from the odd one or two that actually use my new name. you tell them and pastoral knows I'm trans and they don't do anything about it. they only care about uniform, sports and equipment. not our mental state

Once you have a bad reputation you cannot get away from it, once teachers know you they constantly stop you and pick on you for the most petty reasons. When you’re put into isolation there you have no human rights of using the toilet or having a drink of water. Yes the grades are good but most students there are depressed due to a few of the teachers who push the boundaries and are nasty, I won’t mention names but they know who they are. However a lot of the teachers there are nice.

Only reputation and looks matter

I went to this school from year 7 to year 11 where I graduated. Those 5 years were hell. Bullying was tolerable but the way the teachers treated us as students was disgusting. Year 7-9 I struggled with severe mental health issues - these were overlooked and those with physical health problems were screwed. The teachers there demanded reselect whilst showing little to no respect for the students, they wanted us to be adults but refused to treat us as that. School uniform is a joke, we were not allowed to take our blazers off in the corridors unless the temperature was to a certain degree and even then, the head had to permit it because its "unprofessional". My last year of school, physically, was the worst with physical health problems and shitty teachers. I missed a lot of time off due to an immunosuppressive illness which affected my joints and obviously my immune system. I requested to have a few days off during a flare up so I wouldn't work myself to death which was refused and I ended up doing my gcses high on codiene during a flare up and in agony due to this. The staff are unprofessional and petty and if they didn't like you for some reason, they'd treat you with no respect, ever. Recently a new rule came in that if you needed to go to medical because you were ill, you had to go to your pastoral support worker or CPO as they're called now and they'd permit you - you're lucky to not be sent away by another member of staff let alone be seen by someone who is not, at all, licensed to decide whether you are ill or not. A particular incident resulted in a dangerously high fever, migraine and illness which was ignored out of spite due to an incident weeks prior with a parent. The school itself is diagsuting and our grades were boosted up to keep their good reputation going and if you didn't get good grades? Well, you're undocumented, can't have someone bringing the average down!

sucks

they care more about the homework, uniform, girl skirts, and equipment more than the students mental health. they don't care about the students at all. there are 3 teachers that actually care and they are the best ever. it's note fair how they treat the girls to the boys. and don't even get me started on trans people.

Very bad school

Very bad school there are few good teachers . Most of them are very sexist and care more about girls skirts than anything else . They have told multiple students they don’t care about them they only want the grades . They also lose all their pe teachers every year

Doesn’t care about students

While it is a good school, a nice building with good facilities, the teachers don’t meet the regular standard and neglect student needs. Mental health of the students is pushed out of the way and sacrificed in order to focus on raising the grades of students. As well as this, there is a huge lack of support for students with physical and mental disabilities. The punishment system leaves students who are forced to defend themselves against bullies (due to the lack of teacher input) at risk of unnecessary detentions and the so called “0 tolerance” policy is completely ignored, allowing some students to preach racism, sexism, homophobia and ableism throughout the halls. Overall it could be much improved if the teachers put more effort into aiding the students who need it rather than focusing on those whose grades stand out.

Average nothing else

It’s not good or bad more bad I would say, since COVID has reached schools they care more about grades as grades have gone down because of mental health but they couldn’t care less as they expect us to get high grades although we haven’t gotten support throughout.

Camborne School review

The worst secondary school ever, only care about the smart and successful students, and forget about all the ones with disability’s, mental health issues or learning problems.

Questionable

Well, I wouldn’t describe the school as bad, but I wouldn’t describe it as the best school ever. Because of covid grades have been dropped, they’re making kids come into school to do their GCSE exams while we are in tier 3, I don’t think I the school cares because they give so many kids detentions for the pettiest reasons ever like forgetting a book. I know the school was once an amazing school where kids got the best grades ever but I don’t think that it’s going to happen anymore because the ratings keep going down from 5 stars to 3 and a 1/2.

It's awful, they do not care one bit about mental health even when I was doing so bad. They kick too many people out and give people detentions for the most ridiculous reasons

Honestly not that bad. I think people overhate it for the smallest reasons. They helped me do well at GCSEs, and I'm on track to do well at VI form.

So bad, teachers honestly care more about your uniform and grades (GCSE results) than your mental health and how your feeling as a person, I would definitely not recommend CSIA as a school to anybody
