Gave me mental health issues so bad that I set both of my arms on fire. Some teachers are supportive while most are there to have a petty power trip by constantly putting students in isolation for the most petty of reasons.
Racist and narcissistic head and deputy head teachers. If you want the best for your kids - avoid like a plague !!!
Ms Mcglashan and Mister Ellard !! Neurotic meets the Narcissist.
Avoid avoid avoid
the school is horrible for us children when i was in year 7 i was given an iso for something that wasn’t even my fault
some teachers r horrible for example mr evans looks up us girl’s skirts n is horrible to us
if u get a c2 for anything the teachers keep an eye on u n immediately hate u and it’s not fair whatsoever
one of my old friends had to leave because teachers were being racist to him/her
they don’t care abt people’s mental health at all if u have mental health issues n u seem to have a “bad attitude” u will get suspended or excluded and it’s not fair at all
it’s not our fault if our pen runs out u don’t have to give us a c2 that’s taking the only break we really get
and c3 for being late that’s just ridiculous for example i was stuck in traffic and my car was frozen and i got a c3 (45 minutes after school) just because i was a minute late and i still made it to line up before the whistle!!
they never clean the toilets either!
it’s alright if we vape, get bullied, etc but if we have a phone on us or even a messed up tie we get suspended as it’s the “worst thing ever”
the teachers generally mistreat all the pupils
if u can’t complete ur homework u get homework club even if u had problems getting onto the website!!
i hate the school and i wish i could leave
i used to have a really nice teacher but she got moved out of our class
Their punishments are shit (no offence ig) and they have sp many run down rooms for example toilets next to c3/90 min/ isolation hall and the hall it’s self they years older than year 7 get a big playground however I feel bad for the year 7’s cos I’ve seen how squished it is and they also have to have dinner in the assembly hall there are SOOO MANY things like that that I prob don’t have enough space to write on here and they need to fix it also wtf why are you even locking the medical toilets fuck you to who ever thinks/thought that was ok what if a student was leaking on their period or abt to piss themselves and you have to go to the fucking pastoral and they either walk you around to try find another one then fail to fine one and take you to the fucking staff one or have to find a fucking key or shit like that what the actual fuck.
I write about this school as i sit within one of its god awful lessons with the decrepit head teacher barely hanging on to life. This school only cares about you grades which to be honest within itself isn't too awful but the way they preform it makes it so hard to believe that they have had students that get 9's on their gcse. As i have already said they only care about grades so everything else has been scraped from the bottom of the barrel such as the food, that within itself deserves a paragraph, the changing rooms, the teachers and how could i forget the classrooms. Let us start with the teachers, these so called "teachers" have no respect for you as they do not give you a chance to say your side of the story before they have to butt in. Now i would keep going but its almost 10:40 (the end of the lesson) so i must conclude that this school is nothing but utter horrid, vile crap, if you have a choice do NOT send your child here.
I left this school not that long ago and needed to say this to tell people not to go here.
1- i sometimes wore a skirt and because I’m short they don’t fit properly so I need to roll then up so they sit on my knee and not half way down my leg. I was screamed at multiple times that day for it even after I explained that I had to to make it fit.
2- while at that school I had only 4 teachers I could trust and only 2 that made me feel like I belonged there.
3- I have a SEN needs for exams (computer, extra time, scribe, reader and separate room) and the never net that information to my college so they had to sort that out they selves. It also took them till year 10 to put them in place when they should have been the whole time.
4- when I was in year 11 my English teacher told us not to worry about studying an inspector calls and it won’t be on our GCSE’s for months, the day before our English exam in last lesson she tells us it will be on the exam the next morning. So many people in her class failed because of that and she doesn’t even know what she did wrong.
5- my younger brother has a serious medical condition and he passes out because of it (if he passes out he is meant to be monitored for 24 hours so they are meant to send him home) he passed out at school one time so what they did was stuck him in the medical room bg himself for half an hour before deciding to call our mum to pick him up and after that they also left him alone.
6- my music teacher in year 9 would tell the whole calls how I wasn’t doing good enough with the homework (I always made sure I got at least 70%) and would shame me for it to the whole class and pick on me to answer questions and if I didn’t know the answer she would make fun of me. She went as far as to say to my mum “no matter what grade she gets I will make sure she fails”.
Now the good stuff:
1- the Christmas and end of year shows are really fun and a great environment to be a part of, if you do go definitely be in the shows.
2- the few teachers I could trust I could trust with anything.
3- some teachers could actually teach and there classes were fun to be a part of.
4- the chicken was good I guess
Working with children was rewarding, but some teachers are bullies. They bully certain kids to get them out of their school. They do not take kids mental health seriously.
1. Poor working conditions.
2. SLT don't listen.
3. Poor communication all round.
4. Detentions handed out for minor things, when communicating with the child can resolve the behaviour.
5. No clear structure of the role you are employed to do.
6. Treated like a dogs body.
7. Volume of work is unmanageable.
8. Serious problem with retention of their staff.
9. A broken system that is beyond repair.
10. Final word, don't work there.
It’s apparently one of worst ever school teachers here’s don’t care about students all I say to parents make sure do not send your kids here if u don’t want to be in trouble thing if ur kids if they fart he or she straight away excluding I don’t understand if this is a army based they talking about rule something never we understand
Im in year 7. On the first day i was put in isolation for wearing acrylics its ridiculous i got no time to get to know anyone and sat in a room. With the skirtd they HAVE to be below the knees but with the shorts they can be as short as they want i wouldnt recommend this school if your thinking of changing schools or your in year 6
I'm in year 9. Currently, it's not that bad and the foods are sometimes good and sometimes bad. The education they give is great but the teachers just love giving us detentions and are strict, another thing that is strict is uniform. I hate it so much im going to cry, the trousers are uncomfortable and the tie has to be a certain length, skirts certain length, not allowed to take blazers off, this is horrific and there is just so much racism going on in this school to the point where its normal and teachers dont do anything about it. Ok sure yeah, they make assemblies about it but that doesnt do anything because that wont stop the words i recieve from the students.
The only reason this school gets any stars from me was not for anything they had done specifically merely out of the friendships that we forged over our five years stuck together in this abusive cesspit.
Where do I start? I joint Burnt mill a happy go lucky kid, a tad bit free spirited but a good kid none the less. The staff didn’t like this they didn’t like kids expressing themselves they liked conformity and suppression of what makes you you. By the time the five year stay was done none of us could say we were truly happy or positively impacted by anything provided here.
Bullying is spoken a lot by the staff if I remember correctly however they have no clue what bullying looks like let alone how to stop it when it happens they created such a toxic environment where popular kids were allowed to bully and harass others and be told nothing when it was caught. Big surprise considering I myself was bullied by the then head of ********** department who made fun of my lisp not sure if he still holds that role but I would assume so.
The school is simply a grade factory they wanted students to get good grades but the extreme workload expectations put on students coupled with the belittling of lower achieving students tells me they only wanted themselves to look good
I won’t even go in to the horrific racism and homophobia I had seen first hand which was reported and not dealt with. do your kids a favour and find another school
guys save yourself and don’t go to burntmill😀 like don’t. teachers and students that go their are horrible . If your getting bullied then GOODLUCK cause your gonna need it cause teachers don’t care. All they care about is if the girls skirts are rolled up orrr if the ties are to short. LIKE HOW IS THAT IMPORTANT. HOWWW is that going to change how i learn. Noww lessons are just as bad, i’m not saying that every teacher is bad butttt most of them are. Don’t take a language YOU DONT NEED IT!!! even if they say you do, you don’t. everytime i pass by that school i feel so good that ive left. i finally feel free.
i am year 10 in burnt mill now and it’s terrible, there is so much bullying, the teachers are extremely strict, most teachers are extremely bad at teaching and their food/drinks are horrid, i would not recommend this school to anyone as it has ruined my mental health and education.
