I recently had a very disappointing experience with Burlais School while trying to transition my son, who has special needs, into their program. From the start, communication was inconsistent and unprofessional. Despite multiple attempts to reach out via email, I rarely received replies, leaving me feeling unsupported and undervalued.
At a recent meeting with the school’s ALNCO (Additional Learning Needs Coordinator) and headteacher, I felt the environment was unwelcoming and dismissive. Rather than offering support or discussing ways to accommodate my son, I was informed that they could not meet his needs without any effort to assess how he might adapt to their environment. Instead of collaboration, I felt pressured and discouraged, as though we were being pushed out of the process entirely.
This experience has left me feeling heartbroken and saddened, especially as a parent seeking the best possible environment for my child. I truly hope Burlais School considers a more inclusive and compassionate approach in the future, especially when it comes to supporting children with additional needs.
