Two of my children attended Bunwell Primary four years apart. The school was fine for my older child. It then changed to an academy and changed headteacher. My younger child started after this. I raised concerns for years that I thought he was autistic but didn't receive any help. Following a private diagnosis, I found out that he was autistic. We entered lockdown a few weeks later and I found myself homeschooling a child that could not do the work without one-to-one support. I asked for help and was told he should work independently. After returning to school little support was offered and he had massive meltdowns every day which indicated that his needs were not being met. I applied for a parental request for EHCP due to a lack of support. He now has an EHCP. At this stage, we were in the final few months of school. Our relationship with the school was poor with limited support for my son. I ended up feeling like I was a difficult parent when I tried to work with the school and keep in touch with the latest medical evidence and progress on his EHCP. My child went from an academic pupil who was happy at school to a child who cried and no longer wanted to attend.
I later found out that the governors had been told that my complaint had been dealt with. This was a lie
