i have been informed by my children that the school are beginning to lock all the girls toilets before they're registration class and for most of the day. this is totally unacceptable as they are not doing the same to the boys it is just the girls. i have so many questions, what if a girl has started her menstrual cycle? what if a girl has a urine infection ? but the biggest question of all is what if a girl needs to use the toilet ?? are they told no and have to hold it all day ?
After viewing a video of a conversation involving the designated safeguarding lead in this school with two female pupils, it appears that the teacher involved is clearly being unprofessional when dealing with pupils MH. I recognise his voice having spoken to him on many occasions.
This video captures him stating if a pupil approached him and he knew that the pupil had MH and asked him for help that he would laugh, he would sit there and laugh at them.
Surely this is not professional or acceptable behaviour. Parents trust teachers to care and support for their children at school. This shameful, immature attitude and behaviour towards pupils is most concerning and should not be allowed to continue.
This teachers ongoing involvement with vulnerable pupils seeking support is continuing.
Despite his clear lack of compassion, poor rapport, condescending attitude towards pupils which should be addressed promptly and accordingly. From what I understand this has been ongoing for sometime which has affected numerous pupils and their wellbeing. Hence this report being generated in the hope that it reaches the right persons to help protect the vulnerable pupils involved.
the system in this school is outrageous. the seiner leader ship team think they are above everybody else and have more control over every single child than the parents do. the main safeguarding leader (not naming names) has said directly to my face that if i ever had a problem and needed his help that he would stand there and laugh at me. as the head of safe guarding this is so out of line to say considering his face is all over the walls in the school buildings saying he is in the school to talk to if you need help. he favourites children for example, some girls i know have been excluded for a fight they didn't start with no evidence that they started it, but another girl was not punished for sniffing ket in the school toilets, even though there was hard evidence. how does that work?? it's absolutely absurd. to top it off the inside of the school is absolutely disgusting there are holes in the toilet walls in b block from rats chewing through them and nothing is done about it, they leave the rat hole open, why can't they atleast have the deceny to cover it up? we have had rats dead in the pipes that have stank the whole of b block out for week's. there is mold under the sinks, never soap in any of the toilets, the toilets are just vile they're never clean it's absolutely filthy and the period bins are never emptied and smell so bad because of how jam packed they are.
i have struggled very poorly with mental health and the school have given 0 support in fact these vulnerable types of students are looked down upon and labeled as the “naughty/troubled children” support will only be given to you in this school if u are doing well academically otherwise you are treated although your issues are attention seeking and you don’t get taken seriously. not all staff treat you in this manner but it is the “slt” teachers the ones in charge of safeguarding these are the teachers that do nothing about bullying or drug use in school in fact these teachers pretend to be oblivious to it and if you come forward and say u need to speak to them they shout at you and tell you to go away like you are the one in the wrong for reporting the issue to them. if your child is vulnerable or ealisly led by others i DO NOT RECOMMEND sending them to this school as if your child is suffering or has been pressured into taking drugs or selling them or your child is being severely bullied this school will do nothing
Overall the school is ok. The education is average but the behaviour is appalling. The school especially the safeguarding officers are very biased and seem to choose sides with the drug dealers of the school. If you send your child here they will be exposed to drugs and violence and no consequences will be made towards the perpetrators. I do not recommend moving your child to this school as there are so many better schools that are able to deal with the situations accordingly and not exploit your child to other dangerous children.
I'd rate my experience a 4-10. My time at Bryntirion has been a decent journey so far however my main issue is the lack of respect teachers have for their students.
I noticed that teachers do not seem to care about their students needs/feelings and expect them to get on with the day as normal regardless of the issues pupils face during school hours. Also teachers can be quite disrespectful and call people out for no obvious reason which can be very humiliating. Another thing I have noticed is that fights are not handled well within the school. SLT members will do very little about the situations that take place and as well SIDE with students which is sad. I myself have been in many situations in Bryntirion where I have felt targeted by teachers, called out and my issues haven't been dealt with in the correct way. I wouldn't send your child here.
If u want to send your child to a school where the teachers who classify themselves as “safe guarding” laugh at the fact the school is basically falling apart.
Not long ago there was a pipe leak in E block right outside the slt department. 2 of the slt teachers where stood there jumping on the weak floor laughing to themselves, and talking about year 7 children falling through the floor.
The teachers in this school are absolutely disgraceful, They will laugh in your face when u try to speak to them about ur mental health, that they make clear around the school you can talk to them, when in reality they don’t care.
If u go to Ms.Jones one of the safe guarding teachers at Bryntirion comp and tell her anything about your life she will automatically assume you are in county lines and proceed to tell your parents.
Do not send ur child to this school if u want them to come home happy.
Bullying is handed awfully. Things are said will happen but nothing ever comes, teachers will simply look at what is happening but take no action to help other than offer counselling.
Do not send your child to this school if you want them to be happy.
Anti-bullying policy is non existent. Head of year, head teacher and governors do not discipline bullies even with CCTV evidence and do not give any support to the victim.
I went here for 5 years. The minute I could leave I did. As a student you want your teachers to care about you and support you. Bryntirion will never offer that to your kid. Favouritism and neglect is the teachers key points. Only a handful of teachers are decent. The school paid money to get stupid graffiti but couldn’t afford to get the asbestos taken out. We literally were exposed to it. God forbid you wear your jacked when the heating is broken mid winter. Everything is offered to those who can already succeed without teachers help- those who struggle are left for dead. -10/10 go somewhere else. Genuinely don’t send your kid here. Unless you want them traumatised.
Absolutely horrific. I just finished my GCSEs and am finally leaving that hell hole of a place. The amount of bullying, sexism, homophobia, racism and more that is not only occurring in the school but is tolerated by almost all the teachers is utterly disgusting. The priorities for the place isn’t the children or their well-being. No. It is the public image. Almost all the people I know who have asked for mental health help has been either ignored or rejected. The staffs tolerance to bullies is very disrespectful. Allowing almost all the boys to make comments and remarks against those who don’t fit their standards. I personally am one who can confirm they receive no punishment. The teachers themselves are children. They went to school and left to just go back to school. They don’t care for your child’s achievements but that you’re wearing a coat in the classroom, when the heating is broken and it the middle of February. Not only that, they to find it acceptable to be rude and make insensitive/ offensive comments about the children. If you would like to send your kids here I simply say don’t. It needs to be shut down and ridiculed for its poor efforts. It is a joke of a school.
I’m absolutely loving Bryntitrion Comp! Starting September I pick my GCSE options and Bryntitrion are always there to help me. The sport range is very good, along with the food. School also handles bullying, cyber bullying, harassment, racism and any other offensive issues very well!! Overall an amazing school and I’m very excited for Year 8, 9, 10 and 11.
