I am a student at "Broughton High School and" "the City of Edinburgh Music School". While "the City of Edinburgh Music School" provides a good experience, but, my time at Broughton High School has been very disappointing.
In my experience, the teachers at Broughton High School have been unprofessional. Some are rude and unmotivated. For example, the school's timetable is poorly organized, and there are issues with student behavior, such as vaping in the toilets, which goes largely unaddressed by staff.
There is also a lack of fair treatment; some students receive bad grades based on the teacher's personal feelings rather than their performance. Discipline can feel arbitrary, For example, when i was in S2, I was being placed in "timeout" without clear justification. The primary focus of the staff appears to be enforcing the "dress code" rather than fostering a positive learning environment or supporting students' academic success.
The school environment is quite chaotic. Students frequently fight each other, and bullying, particularly of S1 students, is common. There are also instances where students steal "Waitrose" trolleys and bring them onto school grounds.
However, there are some teachers who are mature and capable enough to manage student behavior and stop these issues.
Despite these problems, I have stayed at the school due to my involvement with "the City of Edinburgh Music School". However, I would urge parents to carefully consider whether Broughton High School is the right environment for their children. Please take a moment to reflect before deciding on your child's education.
