I'm a student here currently whose just gone to upper site and lower in my opinion is way more fun, I'm saying 3 stars because lots of the bad things about it is the things students do that teachers have no way of finding out. Some really nice teachers there that help you but a couple really horrid ones, the system with 5s and latest could be better as they are harsh to new people as well. Also the students are pretty bad for many things, such as vaping and bullying, at lower site nothing is that bad but at upper alot of people I know are definitely intimidated by bigger lads in y11 and get their stuff nicked sometimes, they prefer to stick with me because I'm pretty big, do mma and know much bigger people in y10
Whilst being at this school I experienced extreme bullying. This led to severe anxiety and most days I would beg my parents to let me stay home. Not only that, the school has made a kid (who has type one diabetes and needs their phone near them to read their blood sugar) leave their phone in the office and now the kid is in severe danger whilst going to the school. They also lock the toilets during lesson so several girls have had to sit in period blood and kids have had accidents before.
The school has several teachers who have teachers who have touched the underaged students in a weird way. Not only that, several departments in the school are severely underfunded and we have equipment that is over 20 years old. They never wash the PE bibs and the school does not let you go home when you are ill, even if you are throwing up. Several members of the staff are also racist, calling some of the foreign students ‘slaves’ whilst doing a whipping motion.
This school is not a school for any child who is anxious, inside their shell, neurodivergent etc. I was bullied (including physical attacks from boys as an 11-year-old girl) and was treated like a future criminal by the staff due to my reluctance to take part/be there. What did the staff expect? A child not even in their teens yet should not be in survival mode six hours a day five days a week in a place that is supposed to educate them and ensure their safety.
The only thing I learned from this school was that I didn't have to be somewhere I was getting abused. So I stopped going. Again, I was treated like a future criminal because of this.
I'd avoid lessons by walking the grounds (nobody ever noticed) due to anxiety and being in constant survival mode. Teachers do not care about bullying, the safety of students or helping those who could just do with a little extra help without feeling embarrassed/ostracised. The anti-bullying efforts included telling one of the boys who attacked me, to stop their behaviour in front of the whole form of 30 or whatever kids with me in their immediate view.
Funnily enough, like another reviewer here, Mr. Morrison was probably the only staff member who treated me kindly, I really enjoyed his lessons. So if the school takes anything from this - give my guy a raise.
Would you rather have good mental health, or be stuck in a high school that tolerates racism, homophobia, transphobia and ableism and pretty much everything under the sun? I think we know what the obvious choice is! The constant berating and slurs being thrown around like it’s a game of catch, the lessons barely helping anyone who, like me, have difficulty learning academically and don’t get me started on the pure tokenism during periods we should celebrate and remember! The teachers were lying through their teeth when they say that they’re not doing it out of pure tokenism. Oh! Also, they always have a go at us for using AI (which honestly is fair) but THEY turn around and use AI to write their emails! I have proof for this if you guys wanna see 👀 Say, wanna know what the worst thing is? The bathrooms have fucking GATES SO THE STUDENTS CAN’T USE IT DURING LESSONS UNLESS YOU HAVE A TOILET PASS?! ARE YOU JOKING ME?! “Well what’s wrong about that? The students could be sneaking in there to skip lessons” Yes I won’t deny that could be a problem. BUT what if someone really needs to go? Like DESPERATELY to get point they could piss their pants if they don’t go?? Or what if someone’s idk…on their period?? I’m pretty sure that you need to go to the toilets to do that if I’m not mistaken! And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! There’s so much shit that this school has done that it’s absolutely laughable! But I won’t go this far in. Just don’t go to Bridgewater if you want to be happy
absolutely crap school! the school will actively allow bullying and refuse to put a stop to it, the majority of the staff there dont care about you, pastoral constantly tell you off for visiting during lessons but before school and during free times theres always other teachers in there telling you to get out, the lessons are boring, most of the teachers just tell you off and make you hate them and the school dont care about your wellbeing, only if you pass your gcses so it looks good on them. the sen support is crap, the staff just shout at you if you’re stressed and favouritise certain students, they REFUSE to give you the support you need and just think that because you’re academically intelligent you dont need any support. stay clear from this school!
Through out my five years I never felt so unsafe in a school, the bullying was unbearable! The members of staff never once helped me always telling me to go back to lesson and when I was struggling with mental health they told me it’s because I’m a girl and I have hormones.
One time when I was really bad, a student told me to end my life and told a teacher, they told me that it was “banter”. completely unsafe for students, fights always broke loose, students made fun of kids with disabilities. I had to sneak out of school to early to get home safe!
Absolutely horrible, I’ve experienced bullying for five years and not a single member of staff helped! Just saying it’s “banter”
With mental health they just told you it was hormones, wouldn’t even talk you through how you’re feeling. When the bullying resulted in fights they still did nothing, hope the place gets shut down for neglect.
Wouldn’t recommend to anybody. The amount of bullying, harassment, physical harm, threats and homophobia you’ll witness is quite incredible.
Brilliant lunch time entertainment, like kids pooing in pasta pots and kids rolling joints, which both are hard acts to follow. Must’ve cost them the whole school budget for them acts.
Big up Mr Morrison though, he was an absolute lad 💪 oh and big up the 50p pizzas at break they were brill (send me the recipe please)
my first year in the school was horrid, i had unfortunately made friends with racist, homophobic people...they called me slurs, bodyshamed me a
in YR7 and they were homophobic all towards me this lasted until yr10 thats when it died down.
it quite literally put me off school, i didn’t even step foot in there but when i did i was late. i reported it multiple times and very little was done
there was one time where someone carved out my name on a table and put a slur right next to it. i cried and all the teachers did was yell at the student then brush it off
i don’t recommend this school it’s literally a shit hole. :)))
Transphobia and homophobia from certain students with incredibly ignorant attitudes aswell as many other awful things from bullying being said it’s dealt with but it always comes back again. Need I mention the indoctrinated superiority complex.
