Awful experience with our child who attended bohunt. Child was initially happy in school but following a peer on peer attack suffered catastrophic mental health issues which were not properly supported at school despite camhs involvement. Child was made to feel that she was choosing her behaviour and poor attendance. Despite 2 failed suicide attempts and early help involvement, gp involvement and that our child was being medicated. Child was left to wander school as classroom was too difficult. No referrals for education made to the Local authority. Complaints procedure was lengthy and not to the specified school timeframes was almost 2 years.Child now has diagnoses, full ehcp and registered as disabled. All missed / ignored by school who did not seek support for child. School did not fulfill their legal and safeguarding obligations.
Really bad with no control over the students and it is just too big to handle so the teachers can't understand the teachers and their needs. School is very dirty with bad food and no control over bullying with unfair teachers.
Traumatised.
Firstly the teachers are too strict in my opinion, you can get severely punished for the most minor things E.g. a minor uniform error
Also as the school has so many students it can actually feel very isolating and makes you feel like you know absolutely no one ( I know that this is not entirely the schools fault but rather the amount of students, still thought I should mention it) Also many of the students are very rebellious and very rude to staff and those who achieve well in school (again not entirely the schools fault but students may be like this because of the overly strict rules)
And lastly, the toilets are some of the worst I have ever seen ( i know from experience) , for practically every year I have been at this school the school has had some toilets which are completely broken and most of the locks on the school doors don’t even work, the ones which do are usually occupied by students hogging the toilets (on purpose to be annoying)
So in conclusion I would highly recommend not to send your child to this hellhole , although at the end of the day it is your decision whether you want to destroy their mental health or not
Bohunt was for me a rough experience. For the 5 years I was there I got badly bullied and the school did nothing to help. At Bohunt it's very much a case of popularity and non popularity. So if you weren't "popular" you would go through hell. Most of the teachers however are lovley and you know that their ambition is to help you pass your GCSE'S. The rules are big but they are only there to help. The challenge is not to break them. There is so much more I could say but I'll save that till another time. I just hope that they do more about bullying.
I spent 5 years here and while some of it was good, a lot wasn't so much, there was rampant bullying in my time there and nothing was done. Students in my year upon reaching year 10-11 were self harming due to the stress the school puts the kids under and treats failing your GCSE's as failure and that you've wasted 5 years. Prom wasn't much better as at the prom due to our year being the lowest performing the headteacher made a comment that:
"If we got in trouble with the police don't got to this school."
Students are treated with utter disdain and contempt if they're not a high achiever by a lot of staff, the ones who struggle get minimal help and are left to flounder.
Wouldn't recommend this school in my opinion.
I loved my 5 years at Bohunt! Amazing experiences and trips (before covid). Only issue i really had was that some of the teachers were unfair. Other than that it a great school.
