Blackheath High School

I love my school - everybody is so friendly and kind. Every single teacher/staff has been so supportive and helpful. I would recommend this school, for anyone interested in their child receiving extra support in all areas.

The school is alright. Some teachers are unreasonable with workload and stuff like that and the school claims to help with mental health but in reality they don’t do anything. The uniform is ok but it’s ridiculous how strict they are about it, no jewellery, makeup, painted nails. it’s ridiculous. My friend got told off for wearing her religious necklace. The pe uniform is so ugly and the new jumper is so ugly the fit is so bad. Also the walk to the pe field is really long and wastes a lot of time you could be doing sports. I’m not mentioning names but some teachers are just terrible at teaching. I haven’t learnt a single thing from their classes and all of my friends and peers agree. And some teachers are wierd and strict, strict to extreme levels. But some teachers are ok. The lunches are very good. There is a meat, vegetarian, vegan, hot sandwich or pasta, jacket potato, soup, sandwich, salad bar, fruit and dessert option. The science department does not offer a lot of support for students that struggle with learning the content but other departments are very good at doing it. The workload is massive though. It causes lots of stress on students, even from yr 7 you are getting masses of tests and homework every day, and from yr 9 tests every week practically. Be prepared from how much work comes from the mfl department. It’s soooo much. And you can’t drop subjects until the end of yr 9, even though you have started gcse content. There is a counsellor and good facilities for problem with learning difficulties which is good. But the schools pretty average I would say.

The teachers are mostly really nice and try hard to teach you something.Ocationally there'll be a really strict teacher which really annoyed me but that's alright.the foods very good and they let you have whatever combination you want plus they always have something for you, sandwiches and hot food.the uniform is comfy and so are the chairs in the classrooms. Overall I'd say it's a great school and I really enjoy going to it.when I joined in year 7 there where lots of activities and events to help you make friends which actually worked😛they also have trip days every term where every year group goes on a trip to a different place on the same day (it's really fun).
