I worked as a TA here for the last 3 months; mid April to end June '22.
While I was there I witnessed first class teaching from Maths, English, & Science; French, Spanish; P.E. , Music, Drama, Art etc. etc. etc.
I understand there's a new head teacher now, which can make a difference..
But it's worth looking into this school 👍
absolutely terrible school. behaviour issues are huge and most teachers don't treat us with an ounce of respect!! bullying goes unpunished, with the victims being punished instead. if your child has special educational needs or mental health issues i beg you do not send them to this school. teachers, slt and pastoral staff made me feel like i was the problem when they were the ones refusing to make reasonable adaptations and provide support
Bexhill Academy is shit, they don’t care about your mental health but they care about learning or uniform, they say that we can come to them but when we do they are just busy or they can’t do shit about it and they say that jewellery and nails and lashes are really distracting and disgusting when they are literally wearing so much jewellery, and we just want to be confident about ourselves and it is so stressful when they follow u around and telling you the same thing constantly and recently this girl has been saying horrible things like telling me and my friends to kill our selfs and since that every time we have a problem about bullying they always bring up the past and it’s just fucking stressful, Maybe I had a reason to stand up for myself because this girl was bullying me and when I say something and they tell me off for that, if someone hits u they say to run to teachers, I’m not gonna run to teachers forever, AND they even tell us to be independent but they still telling us to keep on running to the head teachers to solve our problems. My mental health is getting worse because of this shit hole and everything and everyone is the same and it’s just so stressful and trust me don’t send your kids to this school, save them before is too late, even two of my friends got homeschooled because they have been severely bullied and the teachers did not do anything so they decided to take the risk and get homeschooled, it’s torture here, I’m trying my best to suffer through all of this. This school is mentally killing students and they just want a school that actually cares about them, but that will never work cuz after all it’s Bexhill Academy, please don’t send your kids here before theby go through the same pain as every single student in Bexhill Academy AND THE CHIPS NEEDS TO GO TO THE WAY IT WAS AND THE CROISSANTS FRESH PLEASE THEY RUINED THE CHIPS
This school is horrible you would either be popular or get bullied and if you got bullied then tell a teacher they do nothing about it and don't get me started on the food, for one 33ml drink it's like £1 and for one sandwich it could be £1.20 to £2.45 and its so overpriced. I do not recommend going to this school (based on personal experience)
This school has made my changes over the past few years, some good, some not good. First of all, as a student here, There are mostly amazing teachers who always want to help you achieve your best. I would say that recently (within the last few months) some things have changed which my parent (and many others) were not informed about. Recently there has been a change in the school blazers. They have this awful red ribbon trim which looks like a private school. I don't know who the designer was but it is as if they have taken inspiration from strawberry laces. Also the ties have changed, Year 7 now have a horrible mustard color, and Year 9 a kind of light blue. It is like they are trying to play cluedo with the students. Parents were NOT informed of either of those.
Recently, the school announced that they would be changing to 100 minute lessons. At the time of writing, this has not started yet as the academic year has not started. But it could be heaven or it could be hell, we'll have to see.
Personally, I have not really been bullied at this school and generally feel safe. I have made many friends who care for me and love me deeply, made unforgettable memories and unlocked many talents I did not know I had.
The food is EXTREMELY overpriced, I mean a school canteen is the living definition of captive marketing. It is like £1.10 for a flapjack half the size of your palm.
The teachers are AMAZING and I mean AMAZING! They all seem to genuinely care for us students and help us to learn and achieve our best. I swear that this school has some of the best teachers in the country. If you go to this school you'll know who I mean. They are all engaging and happily speak to students at break. To be honest, teachers at this school feel more like friends than people who are ONLY there to teach you. Most of them are EXTREMELY approachable at school and will happily engage in your banter about Movies, Music, Football, TV shows .ect. I honestly can't think of a bad teacher at this school. As long as you behave, teachers will treat you with movies at the end of term, extended discussion times and many positive points.
Tutor time is a very good way to start off the day. Everyone who I know, even those in different tutors feel that their tutors are approachable and kind.
Alot of people say that there is alot of homophobia and stuff like that at this school, but to be honest, everyone who says that is just trying to make the world more left than it needs to be.
Overall, I think this schools intentions are good but they need to do more student polls, especially for this like uniform and time changes AND inform parents more or have a non-exclusive parents committee. This school might have a low Ofsted rating (as of August 2023) but it is, socially, the best school in the world and even though there are rough edges, there is no other school that I'd rather be at.
mate i swear these teachers got something against kids, bloody screaming me down for those average stuff, i got learning recovered because my phone fell out my pocket (it was powered off) most the teachers are sad bellends who got nothing to do w they life
DONT , DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS THERE .
it is a rubbish school if your kid will suffer mentally there
2 good teachers though out the whole school the rest are rubbish
they always say its your fault, they don't provide good support my friend got physically forced to go in a room she didn't like because its load she was having a panic attack and got dragged up the stairs to go somewhere that was just gonna make it worse, my other friend told to breathe and go to class while having a panic attack, I had a teacher be transphobic the school didn't care i was in tears because i didn't feel comfortable being in her class, i didn't go to her lessons for weeks because she didn't respect me she didn't use me name or pronouns even after i told her multiple times i reported her so did some other people for other things but i got a meeting with the head teacher she didn't even warn her . and the day the teacher actually was transphobic this is what happened:
i asked if my friend was okay because she was upset i get shouted at and told "move to the front" that bit i was fine with but the thing that happened next she called me my old name i don't use my friend said "that's not his name its ****" my teacher shouted "I don't care that's not her name I'm not gonna call her that ,your name is *** not ****" i had a really bad day a lot of students where transphobic to me that day i just snapped so i shouted back "that's not my name" and left crying sitting in the lunch space all the teachers and "mental well-being" staff looked at me and just walked past like i was dirt 5 mins past the only person who cared was a I.T. person he took me to my head of year i explained what happened (my head of year then was transphobic and homophobic(shes left now)) , my head of year said "ye well some people aren't comfortable with it" she didn't care at all i went home didn't tell my parents i was too upset next day she told me to talk to her at break i did i told her i want to move classes 1 so i don't have that teacher and 2 so I'm not in a class full of people who says slurs she said "slurs aren't that bad some people don't understand for example f@**ot" she said a homophobic slur tell me how that school can call themselves lgbtq friendly and say their against bullying.
bexhill academy also doesn't care in my year there's fr a S3*u@1 a**u1lter who clearly bullied someone to the point to Su1c1d3 and the school claims there was no bullying and the kid was fine and bright and happy in school he sat there while school was sucking the life out of him
rubbish don't send ur student there their support team is so bad they don't let students go to the toilet during lessons its discusting i know someone mid mental breakdown they were forced to go into a room they didn't want to go in they were dragged into the room they hated that room because it would make them worse because its so loud and triggering how does that help them
i would put 0 stars but i can't the people in this school don't care about mental health or anything to do with their students unless your not in a lesson or "misbehaving" they tell student off for the most stupidest reasons like entering a classroom without a blazer bad point but there have been people bullied for stuff like autism, gender, sexuallity or even just a embarrassing thing and the teachers turn a blind eye the school isn't cleaned properly theres a whole corder that is now called the pee pee corder because it smells so bad every time someone goes on there someone i know had to quit school because they got bullied so bad. kids at this school are etheir popular, won't succeed and bully people in life or are the bullied people and their mental health get so bad. kids are forced to go to class and talk infont of everone despite having a mental breakdown right infont of a teacher my freind got forced into a "safe space" because they had a mental breakdown even tho it was clear they didn't wanna go in there
This school is pure embarrassment. They don't look after students mental health, teachers often become physical when they don't have there way. The head teacher is an absolute nutter, she calls students dogs and also let's her dogs crap and wee all over the school. The school couldn't be any more transphobic and homophobic yet claim to be lgbt+ friendly. They put too much pressure on year 11 students to the point there having panic attacks in assemblies. It's too strict you can get isolation for wearing non black socks. Also when it rains because of the crappy roof, rain comes into the building which causes hazards. This school needs to be shut down!
Poor handling of bullying and sexual assault. Horrible teachers and poor education. Overpriced food which is bad. Favouritism for bad students which distract the lessons.
I was permanently excluded after defending myself from a teacher attacking me yet the teacher still works at the school, pushes so many kids under the carpet with mental health or bullying problems and doesn’t want to help at all, and kids bringing in knives into school and teachers not doing anything to help any of it, honestly the worst school I could ever expierence!
not only the “pastoral manager” Denise Bradbury is blantly homophobic but is also transphobic! the school is average yet very strict. i was a trans student there and i asked two support managers (my pastoral manager and my mentor) to use my correct pronouns and neither of them respected it. they claim to me supportive to the lgbt community but from what i’ve seen i DOUBT that. PARENTS if you have a trans child don’t take them to this school!
The schools ok, but the amount of pressure placed on students is crazy. The year 11s have to stay till 4 mon-wed even though as a its unhelpful.
The foods very expensive and not great.
It's an ok school, though handling issues amongst students isnt great; this is due to the fact when I was harassed all the school did was place the students in a 1/2 hour detention. Besides this it's ok, the acceptance of different students is amazing and the culture around the school is great
