this school is a mixed bag. if you’re neurodivergent and looking for a small school environment, this is the best option for you. i was raised very left wing and i don’t agree with the private school system, but this school saved me from failing every subject. i could not learn at my previous school because of the size, and moving here helped me a lot and i get lots of help from my teachers, who have the ability to spend time with me, because there’s less people. however, i totally agree with the other reviews in that some of the staff here can be a bit discriminatory at points. being a small school, there’s around 1 teacher for each subject, maybe 2 if you’re lucky. majority of them are older and are very obviously tory enthusiasts, such as the head teacher, and many of them can be pretty racist, homophobic or ableist at points. it’s hard to express myself here because the staff i feel are constantly judging you. at this school, you’re not just a number though, you’re your own person. i guess i kind of recommend it but it’s nothing special.
My experience at this school was disgusting. The blatant racism, discrimination and inequality I saw between the white pupils and ethnic minority students disturbed me deeply. My parents sent me to private school in order to receive a better quality of education in a smaller environment, I was unprepared for the disturbing events which would follow joining the school. Experience- I was athletic and would be as involved as I could within and outwith school, during sports day, the PE teacher at the time took me out of all the races I qualified to compete in, the white girls I won against in districts were put in my place on sports day. When I raised this concern with other pupils they replied “but you beat me, how are you not competing?” When I raised the concern to the PE teacher I was told to sit down followed by the snide remark “you’re not as fast as you think you are” this left me upset and distraught as I was passionate about sports and loved taking part yet was removed from every event I qualified in due to the school due to senior management being unable to handle the idea of a brown pupil winning. I was left distraught the entire sports day knowing this happened to me due to the colour of my skin. Disgusting experience and not worth the money. Please send your child to another private school, Glasgow is a big city with many options. Belmont is not worth your money, it’s a small minded school where senior management is never held accountable.
I would give it zero stars if I could. One of the worst schools ever. Racist bullying staff. Example - 3 brown skinned girls at the front of the school being told to move by senior management staff as they are making the school look muddy and dirty, however, about 5 minutes later when the white girls were in the same place they received a friendly “hi girls”. They are a bunch of bored old ***** who would get a bit too close to certain female students while texting them out of school hours as well as meet them out of school hours (very unprofessional). During COVID-19 this school took advantage of grades being predicted by themselves. Grades were given very unfairly not based on academic performance but rather their feelings towards the students. Interestingly, the white pupils were handed outstanding grades e.g. 5 A’s (unfairly deserved and not based on ability as they were failing during the year) compared to the ethnic pupils who would work twice as hard and perform twice as well while receiving shockingly low predicted grades that don’t correlate with their performance or driven character. The whole school system is rigged. If you’re looking for a fair, enjoyable, hassle-free education which you’re not going to have to fight for your rights as a pupil, AVOID THIS SCHOOL. Majority of current pupils have special needs and learning difficulties which you are not warned about before joining. You’re better off going to any other private school.
It’s alright. The interior is a bit shabby in places and walls are crumbling down in the lower floors. Windows are like 50 years old and hard to open. Teachers are alright but pretty strict along with a bit mean between people.
