Absolutely rubbish school im in year 11 thry helped me 1 year with my dyslexia now im failing half my classed because they dont help out they do nothing about children with special needs at one point they locked the toilets and now....its like a jail no going out of lessons even if you need the toilet if your on your period its not an emergency only the children with a toilet pass are allowed to go i have a weak bladder i cannot hold it in and concentrate they do nothing about bullying and when it gets to the point of a fight its to late Absolutely rubbish school
I feel oakbank sencondery school, teachers and headteacher, still getting kids into trouble with parents because they appear that that they not doing anything bad and to the kids at oakbank school, since my daughter been going there at first no problem and now continuing ringing my husband, your daughter late for class, detention, your daughter talking back at teachers, swearing and I ask her to tell the truth, she I am telling the truth but my husband believes the teachers and school are telling the truth, it effecting there relationship and me and my husband, the truth got to come out, it needs deep investigations or even close down , parents that had same problem come forward before its too late, it is effecting my health please
This school sucks. I'm gonna say it. I had a breakdown because a teacher told my parents I had harmed myself, even after I told them it could potentially put me in danger at home. There were times when I have had major breakdowns and begged to go home but they made me sit in a packed corridor for 3 hours before sending me back to class. If a kid is sick, they just send them back to class. There is no regard for children's safety. The phone rules are awful too. Like, cmon. If they see the outline of your phone in your pocket, they just take it from you. Teachers have obvious favourites and have no regard for anyone else in the class. Staff don't do anything about sexual assault, harassment and bullying. And if a kid fights back, they'll get in trouble for it. The wellbeing team also suck. It took three different people to call the school to get them to check up on me, and all they do is pull me out of class and that's it. Doesn't matter who's around. I asked for a pass to leave class early because I get easily overwhelmed and even then, that was denied or ignored until a temporary head of year stepped in and saw me leave class because I was crying my eyes out. Bullying gets so bad, there's fights between years, and then the older years get blamed because they should know better, even if the younger ones started it. The stress is making people physically ill and the attendance rates are dropping for that. Please go somewhere else, don't cause yourself extra stress, it isn't worth it.
personally I go to this school and honestly I think it's terrible,,,most of the teachers are nasty,,,,they don't get you any help when you need it but if you do one thing wrong you need help,,,,the head of year for year 9 is awful,,,,she doesn't get anything done and she has favourites which your not supposed to have as a teacher,,,,they say they are strict to help us for future but in reality they just want to make the school look good even though it honestly is the worst school in the district of keighley,,,,,if you have kids going to secondary school soon then do not send them here because they will want to move.
This school doesn’t let students express themselves like if a child wanted to express themselves with hair colour or piercing they are given a punishment I don’t think the students should be punished for expressing themselves the way they want to. Students are told “we care” or “no student left behind” well that’s funny because no student is treated with equality. Children don’t attend school because the teachers practically bully their students. I would not send my child here for the basic reason they aren’t teaching what the real world is like when they go off into their careers.
The teachers here are horrible and do not care about their students and prioritise children’s uniform over their education. Teachers lock toilets so students don’t have access and out gates in-front of bathrooms, even though going to the toilet is a human right under the “right to sanitation” meaning it is illegal for the teachers to stop students. Yet if students walk out to go to the toilet they will get excluded.
teachers are incredibly unhelpful.
bad school for special needs children.
race wars have caused both white and asin kids to be targeted.
teachers will not help with bullying.
massive racism, homophobia, transphobia from both the students and teachers.
education is crumbling.
they only care about your attendance and uniform, because that's how they get their funding.
the recent headteacher was fired and a previous deputy head slept with a six former AND smoked marijuana on site. and they allowed her to return to work until they found out she was also using cocaine.
there are only two bathrooms accessable throughout the day at lunch and break and you'll wait 5-10 minutes to get in one because there is no orderly queue and the people hide in there in groups to smoke and vape.
children as young as 12 smoke on the school bus.
the students aren't allowed even piercings or dyed hair as it's a "distraction", no it isn't.
a student slit their wrists once on site and was NOT helped.
i could go on and on, best school i can recommend in this area is probably holy family.
only good thing i can say about this school is the library and food.
My daughter gise to this school has been now for three years she suffers from depression and mental health the teach don’t help at all they just pick on her now she no longer in school they just don’t help you at all would not recommend this school to anyone
I went to this school a few years back now and it was honestly the best school i ever went to. the school dinners were absolutely extraordinary when i ate the food my whole life changed and I became obsessed with the school's food eating 13 jacket potatoes everyday accompanied by 4 pasta pots with cheese. due to all this food i am now 350kg and suffer from depression and coronary heart disease.
Therefore F*ck the school
I’m leaving a review here as I have realised this is my last resort. It will ruin their reputation and so should listen to what I have to say. I would like to start off by stating that I became a student leader and am still, I joined the voice team as I knew that the school “would listen” to what we as students have to say. They haven’t listened to a single idea that we have said (pretty sure). The school claims to be a place of equality but trust me I have never experienced homophobia and sexism quite like it. I have been called slurs in corridors, my friends have been catcalled and touched inappropriately but the school does nothing. The school actually shows examples of sexism such as the boys not doing dance. I have asked many boys that I know and all of them have said they have never done dance so why should the girls be forced to? And don’t get me started on the bullying, it’s horrible and some teachers just don’t do sh*t even if it’s happening right in front of them. The new phone tule is horrible “if I can see the outline of your phone in your pocket, I have seen your phone” how does this make any sense. I understand if a student is on their phone but to the point where even if you see the outline of it is pretty absurd. And another thing, dyed hair. It’s apparently distracting to the other students? Well you just told me I need to focus on ONLY MYSELF not others. I’m pretty sure students won’t be distracted by hair as that is something that little kids do. The school deals horribly with mental health (I have heard that a teacher has forced someone to tell their mum they were self harming which can put the student in danger). The school does nothing for kids who have autism, adhd etc. My friends brother has had to move schools cos he feels that his needs aren’t being met which is what this school is supposed to be doing. The uniform rules are terribly strict, someone got sent home because of the tiniest bit of brown on their sole, my sister had to take the gold out of her shoes, many people have had to colour in tags with sharpie and many people have been told off for wearing the wrong pants even though they are the EXACT pair of pants school said she needed but because of their body type it fit different. Apparently you can express yourself but even wearing a ring can get you punished. Honestly I would never send my kids to this school even if I had no other choice, I would hire a private tutor or homeschool them myself. If you are looking for a good school for your kids DO NOT send them here please for their own sake.
As a student whom has just left this school it is a shit hole it’s built like a prison , teachers don’t teach and call u failures don’t stop bullying or protect students from danger , each classroom is full of smoke from kids vaping and the teachers don’t teach or help you
A vile place led by a bully who clearly hates children. No control of behaviour and those teachers who are nice and can teach move to high sets. New head and her deputies have no control and allow kids to walk the corridors. Bullying happens all the time and no one helps.
Very bad school teachers are very arrogant don’t know how to teach t the children properly to harsh on kids this school needs to close down the teachers are very rough with the children
I would not recommened this school to anyone they have sime bullshit rules in palce instead of solving actual problems. If they think people skipping lessons is the biggest problem this school has they must be delusional. Kid vape, smoke and do weed infront of the teacher sometimes too. They care less about equality in race, religion or sex. I mean basic shit seems to be the problem and they are creating excuses to make it seem like they are solving a huge problem when all we are most likeley missing is tutor or a do now which is not that serious compared to what this school has on uts table.
Went to this school between the years of 2013-2018 and lord above it was like living in a f***ing horror movie. The school is like a zoo, expect all the animals have taken drugs and have let you run rampant. It’s chaos, complete chaos, It’s shocking. The school was a mess, total bomb site of a place. The teachers were about as clueless as us students. Most lessons consisted of back and forth between a teacher and the class menace AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE FOOD!!! IT WAS HORRID, ABSOLUTELY UNDOUBTEDLY THE WORST FOOD IN THE WORLD!!! 🤮 dripping with grease, tasted like someone sh*t on a napkin and handed it to you. Best part of the school was hanging out with my mates. They ended up knocking the old school down and then put up, not built mind you, put up like some Lego set of a new school, total garbage. Still, first people to do exams in it so what an honour. All in all, funny experience but left with nothing.
mr leister the weird supply head teacher screamed in my face the other day when I was having a go at someone and screamed at my friends also for not been able to get me away
If you want your child to obtain an education don't send them here especially if they have SEND or extra needs. Totally unhelpful and an unhealthy place to be. The school is run like a prison and if you're child doesn't tick the relevant boxes they won't want them there. They find it easier to remove and exclude the child rather than help them. The head is just interested in what she looks like on paper and will never see a parent instead will send one of her minions to fob you off. (I've never known a school with so many deputy heads). My son has special needs and they will not listen to our complaints or his. He feels he can't do right for doing wrong and that he is not wanted there which he isn't as they are not equipped to deal and manage his needs even though they will disagree. It's easier for them to send him home. Bullying is rife and mostly ignored and there's a strong gang culture present there. I urge you all reading this do not send your children to this concentration camp especially if they will not tick the relevant boxes the school needs
As much as I didn't get into trouble or make a bad name for myself in this school, I still had an awful time here. Oakbank does nothing to help those who suffer with any form of mental illness - no matter how many times you try to tell them you need help.
Everyday I dreaded going to school, I'd have panic attacks on the bus about whether I had my tie, my planner, done all my homework, if I had the right shoes on because of how much the teachers drilled it into our minds that if we didn't have all of these things, we'd be punished. The amount of stress really made it difficult to come out with good grades.
I tried to tell my tutors and teachers around me that I was frequently anxious, sad and tired, and nothing was ever done to help me. I was dubbed as a quiet/shy student and not someone who needed support. I think the main reason as to why nobody helped me is because majority of staff don't have a clue on how to deal with young people going through a difficult time, such as secondary school. Then, they make it worse by implementing irrelevant rules, such as the recent ban on toilets during class times. Not sure if you know this, Mrs Smith, but anxiety causes weak bladders, and if I were still attending your atrocious school, I would feel so incredibly unwelcome and insignificant. Can you imagine coming into year 7 for the first time in a new environment, absolutely terrified and then finding out you are NOT allowed to go to the toilet during class? Unbelievable.
Overall, it is clear that the staff are clueless, and the headmistress has never actually lead a school successfully and she doesn't care about the wellbeing of her students (in the ways that matter most) and all she does care about is her reputation on paper.
Did not like this school, some teachers are homophobic, islamaphobic, sexist, transphobic etc. It’s ridiculous especially in this century. You’d expect diversity but clearly not. Don’t bother sending your kids here
some of the teachers are alright half of them are mean i woudnt recommend enyone to that school if its there only choice there food is way over priced and most of the food isnt even that nice on monday if you late to lesson with out a note you get 2 day exclusion and 1 day in the captain tom moor centre the bullying homophobia transphobia rasism ect is unacceptable.
I would not recommend sending your child to this school as the staff are all bullies and treat the students with no respect they have made my children feel unsafe in this school and they are locking the toilets so u can not use them who would want there children holding here business in all day
The school is horrible they are now locking toilets other than one!!, it’s starting to get bad they are trying too make the school a better place but not thinking about there students, you have 5 minutes too get too your lesson or it is an exclusion!people are getting excluded for silly reasons they is bearly even an isolation needed because they arnt using it , don’t recommend this school at all
