Curriculum has been cut to only support science subjects. Very chaotic and staff spend most of the time fire fighting. Constantly having to sort out mistakes when child is accused of not completing homework or not being in class due to admin errors. Attendance staff are confrontational and never apologise for any mistakes made. Not a supportive environment and definitely not for any non neuro typical children.
the rules in this school are getting worse and worse, we have to ask to take our blazer off? We have to have to be in a orderly manner, we can't wear coats inside, have to wear black plain school shoes, no fake nails, no long natural nails, no jewelry not even a necklace, no big hair pieces, and the thing is the teachers don't have to follow these rules and half of them dont so how is that fair? How come we HAVE to follow these rules but teachers don't? Why can't they be forced to follow these rules and regulations.
I have just left what I have known as Heysham High in March. Secondary school is difficult for most children and personally, the school was very good. Amazing teaching, the teaching staff are credits to their subjects, with English being honestly incredible. As a year of the school’s transition into the Star Trust, I do believe the school is on a rapid, genuine change. SLT in school wasn’t very good, however only one of those difficult, cruel and harsh staff are within the SLT team now, she is hopefully nearing retirement. However, the school does not live up to the standards of other schools, but personally, now at another school, the interaction and learning from main school really has stuck with me. I’m 100% confident that if you send your child to BLA they will succeed if they work hard half as hard as the staff do everyday.
