Appalling school living off the reputation of 15 years ago an environment of bullying and apathy that’s just the teachers some people are not fit for this important role the disciplinary system is non existent the acceptance to recognise that it has a terrible behaviour problem is ridiculous and the fact they do not make public incidents that should be shared with parents is beyond belief
In the New building I believe that the teachers are making up procedures and then disbanding them almost immediately for example today the teachers made the main staircase out of bounds at 11:05am and later at 01:12 they then called of the most important corridor in the school and made the students do a lap of their beloved building.
Then there are also some teachers who have fat shamed some students and I am one among many eyewitnesses and I can be assured that the head teacher can sort out this minor issue out and that it might just be a misunderstanding.
Then there is the situation of the harshness strictness of some of the members of staff can be a bit harsh with their students and I would suggest some improvement in this area of wellbeing
I would also like to express the fact that the school yard by science block feels like a prison and I would think of making improvements to that if I were in charge of the school but I am not so I would like to recommend it.
Teachers fat shaming students and with no options for wanting to go on a to say stair case because it is one way horrible and not advertised so this is a horrible school and feels like a pice of crap
Was there till year 10 bad teachers loads of girls got sexually assaulted (including me) they did nothing do not sort bullying out teachers are only nice if you popular or athletic
I'd say this is a bad school. I'm currently in yr 10 at bassaleg school and its not a good school. The teachers don't care about mental health or consider anything someone might be going through. People in Bassalegschool get away with racism, trandphobic comments and they don't have strict enough rules. To add the teaches are not strict enough, its really distracting to peoples learning because of a few people in the class. All this needs to be changed otherwise its just going to keep going down
terrible school, staff care more about appearance the mental health, if you’re sport oriented or popular you’ll probably get more attention and get away with bullying, racism, homophobia, transphobia and ableism. If you get a group of 10 pupils at least 4 will be on drugs. Some teachers could barely be classed as teachers unless a while class is capable of learning by reading from a board. Sexual assault and harassment isn’t out of the ordinary. Had to rely on youtube and other stuff to actually do well in tests and stuff.
The school is not as it seems. I am a year 11 student and I believe the only reason the grades are decent is because of the area that the school is situated in. The teachers often only explain things the way that they understand things rather than giving others a chance, therefor forcing me to get a tutor. The odd teacher actually cares about the students mental health, but the majority just ask because it’s in their job description. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone in fact I’d be more likely to warn people about the school, if you are prepared to get tutors and extra help outside of the school then you will be fine but if not you may struggle.
Good teachers other than a couple, but the building is borderline derelict and the SLT teams are often more interested in uniform quality than actual learning. Have handled the pandemic as well as they could have though.
The school is ok I mean I am a year 11 currently and the building is falling apart although we have money for renevations the forge building is not being fixed. Some of the teachers don’t understand how to control a class and do not effectively teach which has therefore lead me to get tutors
