Ardgowan Primary School enjoys a stellar reputation in Greenock. The teachers are dedicated and passionate, the facilities are first class, and the school always presents well in local and national competitions.
However, my experience as a parent has revealed a deeply concerning issue that tarnishes this otherwise excellent institution: a pervasive problem with bullying and violence.
Sadly, the school's leadership team seems more concerned with maintaining Ardgowan's outward image than addressing this serious problem. Despite repeated incidents of violence and disruption, certain pupils are allowed to remain in mainstream classes, endangering the well-being of their classmates. This lack of action sends a clear message that the safety and emotional health of the children are secondary to preserving the school's reputation.
It's crucial to understand that my criticism is directed solely at the leadership, both within the school and at Inverclyde Council Education Services. The majority of teachers at Ardgowan are dedicated professionals who are hamstrung by the current administration's inaction.
I urge prospective parents to consider this serious issue when choosing a school for their children. While Ardgowan Primary has much to offer, the current leadership's failure to address the ongoing bullying and violence creates an unsafe and unstable learning environment for many pupils.
If you care for your children give this school a miss, staff incapable of providing the absolute minimum of supervision or care for any children who may have additional needs, repeated attacks of my granddaughter are meant with no action from the school, very very poor attitude towards bullying.
