right this place has removed the doors to the school toilets while well knowing people will skip lesson somewhere else anyway, half the time youre being screamed at to put your blazer on even when you dont want to (ITS JUST AN ITEM OF CLOTHING) they take away your basic human right to go to the toilet no matter how desperate you are, and majority of the children are a victim of bullying because of how badly the students and even sometimes the teachers treat them.
Throughout our time here the school has displayed lack of care, the school fails to support kids with mental health issues if an absence is due to mental health the school marks it as unauthorised, even though the department of education state any mental health absence should be marked as authorised, this school makes up it’s own decisions and rules on whether an absence is authorised or not even when a parent calls to report the absence and an illness. So a student can very quickly rack up a lot of unauthorised absences which creates even more mental health concerns for the student. Even after complaints the school fail to correct the errors. They appear to hear your concerns but rarely rectify them. The timetables are full of back to back of the same lesson majority of days creating quite a boring day for kids, the pastoral department is far from acceptable, the staff do not seem dedicated to pastoral it appears they are expected to multi task ie teaching lessons and pastoral, mental health issues are huge now but this school is severely falling behind what is desperately needed for the kids. Many times students have gone to pastoral in need of support but due to not having room or staff these students are encouraged and told to go back to lessons or medical room. The students are just not heard. The school is all top show but scratch underneath and it’s not as wonderful as it portrays to be. We watched the dvd before joining and were very impressed but the reality of school life is far from the portrayal in this dvd. The dinners are also very expensive you can easily spend over £5 per day of just little something for break and lunch for one student and unfortunately the quality from what I am told is not great. Any student that suffers from mental health or reoccurring illness ie migraines etc should choose another school as this school consistently fails to show understanding. The school was once classed as outstanding but it is far from that now.
It’s okay it is not bad and not good at the same time the school meals are average they don’t taste good I my opinion , the female students role up their skirts to high which may lead to the cause of kidnapping, sexual assault or sexual harassment when walking or coming back from school. There are a lot of cussing there which is not good for younger students arriving at the high school for a new experience .An issue there are not only students cussing bad and inappropriate language but also the use of stigma which is inappropriate for people with mental health challenges ,saying racial words like the n word and more not other from that it is kinda boring to be honest it is a small village with not a lot to do but some other peoples experiences are different there
Okay so I’m going to put it simply if you are not a student who gets top grades you won’t be offered many experiences. When I was here I was also quite annoyed about how students got treated differently because of you’re grade. As someone who was a MAP I only got offered experiences when they were offered to my whole year. I even spoke out about how we should get more opportunities but nothing was done. I think it’s an alright school but I won’t rave about it.
I did have a good learning experience here and I’m not going to lie about that, I just think more should be done for the majority of student who are a MAP instead of it all being directed towards HAPs.
At ASHS there is a large sense of community between the students and teachers, whenever I raise an issue to a member of staff I feel listened to. There is a diversity group and they are a safe space for and help people from all backgrounds. The school also raises money and awareness for mental health issues and it feels like a lot of the teachers genuinely care about you as a person.
Of course like any school there are some teachers that aren't like this and that I dislike but when I've spoken to someone about this I've been allowed to move groups to get away from that teacher so i am more comfortable learning which is the main priority here.
The school is quite small and therefore has more limited options in terms of gcse's but as the student body is growing ASHS is adapting and trying to expand the curriculum.
Overall I have enjoyed my years at Archbishop Sancroft and truly believe in the school motto 'ASHS to anywhere'
dont go here. unless your a top grade student or pretty in socity standards they dont care about you. i was bullied for my entire 5 years there and instead of fixing the issue they said "well they have issues at home" i was literally getting told to yeet myself but apparently "its life so i need to expect to meet bad people" one time i had an anxiety attack because these girls were constantly saying things about me when i walked near them, and instead of dealing with it they told me "stop or ill do you for defiance" an awful school that only cares about grades
I went to ASHS and I strongly recommend NOT going there I am dyslexic and cannot tell the time and don’t know any times tables, no body at ASHS found this out or helped me with these problems even when I asked for help. I was being severely bullied and made teachers aware of this and they did nothing and said “just ignore it and don’t retaliate”. I also struggled with depression and anxiety as a result of being bullied day in day out infront of teachers as well as other pupils. I was being bullied during a lesson and the teacher that was on the table told me to ignore it so I left the classroom left the school passed the office where the lady said goodbye and in the middle of the school day I went for a walk and returned 2hrs later when I was greeted by the teachers at lunch. No body knew or asked where I was my parents didn’t know and I returned to school without question. I dropped out and passed my GCSEs but I do not recommend Archbishop Sancroft High School.
