I did part of my teacher training at Ansford in 2018 and was bullied publicly in front of all of the teaching staff, including the principle, harassed in the corridors by a male member of staff and received threatening looks when I complained.
Additionally, the school was named in front of the 200 cohort of trainee teachers at Bath Spa University, as a school that the university should not be sending trainee teachers to.
Sadly, my experience detracted from the care and effort made by my amazing mentors.
I left ny teacher training after my experience at Ansford as the University was equally nochalzng in dealing with thus despite knowing that bully of trainees by the staff was an issue.
I hope the change in senior staff has improved the school now.
The school says alot of things they do to help and fail to do that , they could not care about bullying and actually likes to support said bully more than they do the person receiving it in my experience. The teachers do not care in most circumstances and give up incredibly quickly meaning getting good grades is difficult for example my maths teacher who actually left due to bad results and complaints from teachers . The supply teachers are the redeeming factor of the school as they really do care and have that extra time to support you ansford academy also doesn't have a good budget and cannot afford the basics such as glue sticks and pens let alone usable computing systems required for many of the courses. Overall I dislike my experience and my entire year thinks the same sadly it's in a great location with a great history but it's fallen apart over time only getting worse.
It wasn’t anything special. The teachers obviously had clear favourites which most of them did not try to hide. If you’re being bullied good luck finding help, I had a breakdown in one lesson and my teacher straight up told me I have depression and anxiety in front of everybody. Some teachers are nice but only if they like you. Dogs cute tho
This school isn't exactly the best. In my years here I have been severely bullied at one point and nothing was ever done about it. The behaviour is quite awful and kids just cause havoc in the middle of class ,disrupting lessons and the teachers can't really do much about it.kids aren't really supervised at lunch so a lot of incidents happen then and people are just so rude. At one point I was crying on a daily basis because it was so bad.
Some of the teachers get fed up if they are in a bad mood and take it out on us a bit, when that happens I feel really bad asking for help if I am stuck and so I don't understand the work.
The school is very disorganized and never get anything right in events.the teachers don't communicate with eachother so things just get confusing. I always thought secondary school would be great because we would have more freedom but it is a big let down.
The only few good things are that the teachers that are nice are amazing at their jobs and I like that there are animals at the school and large grounds.
Teachers were nice but if your child suffers from mental health problems be prepared for the worst support going. School councillors are terrible, teachers constantly turning mental health issues into going back to lessons because that “takes your mind off things”. Told a teacher I wanted to kill myself and his reply was “go back to lesson soon”. All they want is good attendance and kids to be in lessons but don’t look at why some kids play up and get angry at them when really some want to be understood.
They let the students smoke on the field, bullies get away with bullying a lot as they can’t do much but that happens at every school. They aren’t very professional in a lot of situations also which call for professionalism. It’s a shame as it could be a good school as there are a few brilliant teachers but sadly it’s just not a 4 or 5 star school in my opinion or many of my peers opinions.
