The Reality Of Alloa Academy

This school done nothing for me. I had been receiving my not-so great education and I struggled with bullying, harassment, etc, all because of my neurodivergence. Only some teachers understand that my brain is different than the others, and provide me with support. Yet again, this is only 3 or 4 teachers. Whenever you complain to the guidance team, they do nothing about the situation, whether it be bullying, or other.

I'd also like to address the fact that literal TEACHERS have been discriminatory towards students, as I have observed this happening. Once it was someone of colour, and another neurodivergent student.

To get onto the actual education, it's okay. It depends on the teacher, in my experience. Some teachers cannot control a class, or can explain something properly, and it confuses most classes. One math teacher in particular is very good in her teachings. I've had her for three years (two numeracy, once normal math), and have always understood everything she's taught my class. Cannot say the same for my main math teacher in the first year. She made no sense.

The only reason the safety & security get a somewhat good rating is because some can make you feel very safe, like teachers and the schools policeman, however, I cannot say the same for other teachers.

Overall, this school is bad, and the best part is literal food. If you have the choice, don't send your child here unless you want their mental health to be destroyed. I'd rather not have my child come home crying to me every night like I have to my parents due to this school. So glad I've left, and I'm slowly recovering from going through pure trauma because of this school.

The school has a annual bathroom brawl has been taken too far by one of the boys ripping the other ones trousers apart please speak to all the 3rd year boys about this because it's distrusting the healthy learning environment ü

horrible.

Very bad the school doesn't teach well and refuses to handle bullying, They let teachers make racist, homophobic, ableist and transphobic remarks and even let teachers insult/verbally assault the students. Don't send your children here please x

Alloa Academy as I remember it

As a student, I've had a bad time there. They never properly stuck with their values, they never dealt with the bullying, they never did make sure students were getting help they needed, and overall, it was what I considered an unsafe place. Food was okay, staff were.. something. Good teachers were very rare. If you want to send your child there, try to make them as tolerant to verbal abuse, and ready to avoid scraps. Hope it improves in the future.

Overall good but don’t eat the food 🤮

I’ve not ate at the school canteen for 4 years now because of how bad the food is and I would have stomach problems if I ate the food. Overall teaching is good yet the communication between the school and families is horrendous, especially if you don’t have social media.

bullying

my experience at this school is very bad, the pupils in it are very disrespectful and rude, this school has got a lot of bullies mostly s1-s3 . the teachers don't really do anything about it and never get back to you, the kids are just shocking in that place, horrific. i won’t lie the education is fine , nothing wrong with it, the foods quite nice, it’s a nicely decorated school, there is a lot of lunch time clubs that you can attend, it’s a clean school with some nice teachers but some not so nice students.

S2 Student review

My time so far at Alloa Academy is quite good because it does teach students very well and all of the teachers know what they are doing. The school has plenty of rules to follow but also lets us do a great array of fun things such as penultimate day at the end of the year. Some teachers just need to get better at listening to the students side of the story rather than always assuming things.
