Transition day is really good!, loving it and etc. messy around the quad and the gym areas, still could do with some cleaning and cut the lunchtimes Cues a bit shorter as it takes a bit while and along the other thing, the blue pod line where u gets your snacks needs to be cut shorter because the transitioned want to try it and older students are pushing in. Got more to this but yep. Still nice school :)
I'm new here at woodlands and the way that they treat me and other students who are getting bullied is disgusting all they care about is thier ofstead rating even though its bad. When people are getting bullied they discipline you for standing up for yourself and not the bully. For example if someone got continuously bullied they wouldn't do anything exept say to carry on. THE 5 STAR REVIEWS ARE LYING.
Overly interested in LGBT students. Any other students are told of for situations an LGBT student would not be told of for e.g hair colour, piercings, makeup, inappropriate outfit
It is the worst school ever, I have never felt this type of racism towards me. The way teachers handle serious situations is ridiculous. Every time I came back from school, I cried. I had good grades, I was a good student yet because I was a Black student I was treated differently and was constantly called names and picked on.
Disgusting.
I've had teachers bully me and make fun of me for having a hunched back from scoliosis in year 7. Told me I'm a liar.
Never gave support for mental health, even when I went up there WITH an autism diagnosis.
Turn a blind eye to sexism, ableism, racism, homophobia, transphobia and general bullying.
I had teachers laugh at me whilst I cried from a boy saying disgusting things about my chest. They turned a blind eye when I was sexually harassed and received rape threats.
Let students loudly say slurs to minorities, and let them draw swastikas.
I was forced to continue classes when having meltdowns, and even turned away from the nurse despite being physically sick from my levels of anxiety.
If you get detention for PE, you gave to stand outside the PE Hall, against the wall, no matter the weather. Even though there's a perfectly good classroom.
Food is hit or miss. Pizzas can be so hard they don't even dent when being hit against tables.
They only care about being seen as a school with good grades. They couldn't care less about you, unless you're a popular white student.
I am a POC at a white school, and this girl in my class asked if I was Indian and I said no as I’m not , then the boy next to me deliberately laughed off saying “aha curry muncher” I ignored him but wish I said something .
They don’t let you use toilets between lessons, yes they say do it before u go in the class or in break but our bladders do not work like that all the time! And especially the females on their periods . It’s very un-fair.
It’s great and all, but my personal opinion is that the corridors are two slim it’s really difficult to get from one place to the other and there aren’t really any open spaces inside that aren’t Filled with tables for the sixth form. Another thing is the changes to the uniform; the skirts allow no movement and are two tight they say it’s because people wore them too short before, but there is no difference if it’s clinging to every in and out of your body; the blazers are also too thick and we aren’t aloud to take them off unless explicitly told so by the teacher, even in a heat wave! Also I’m not naming any but some teachers are just downright crap; I dropped a whole grade in science this year because my teacher actually told me the wrong thing on multiple occasions (including, but not limited to, exo- and endo- thermic reactions, which he got mixed up!)
Another thing is the Phys Ed . Girls are much more limited by what we can do. It’s no rugby, football etc. We are also not aloud tracksuits in winter when we have to do hockey, I had to do it when it was literally snowing earlier that day, whilst in a skort as the teacher was wearing a winter coat. Also when on your period unless swimming you have to participate and then your just sitting on the side doing nothing.
The time between lessons, we used to have a change over period in between where we could go to the lavatory, get a drink, talk to friends and then head to class, now we are expected to make it to class in under one minute, not need the toilet for the whole of the lesson ( or two, each an hour) and if we do we aren’t aloud unless we have a toilet pass or you explain why and generally I’m not explaining in front of my whole class or run-around boys that I’m bleeding out of down there, or I really need to pee.
Last thing, rewards, I’ve seen kids get rewarded for doing one piece of homework, not even completed. This is triggering as I do my homework almost always on time, if it’s not I have a genuine reason. I have to look after my siblings at home and revise knowing full well my brain isn’t working properly and all I get is a tick, if I put in tones of extra work it’s an achievement point, but they soon come to expect it and then that’s it. They get more praise from one half-complete piece then you do from a full extended essay.
That’s it really, my personal opinion, though most of my class agrees. It’s not meant to come across as rude or snobby, it’s just my honest opinion so I hope the school can fix some of its issues.
