This is school is terrible. The education is not good at all they don’t teach the children properly. It messes up young kids future in life and makes them have a horrible experience in high school.
The staff members will pick on you and bully you non stop . They will put you in a place called bridge which is a small place in school where the students will be locked in a room and you will be not in your lessons or be around school like how you would be normally. When you first go they say you will only be in there for 2 weeks but ends up being 1and half year and or 2 and half year. This ruins the children’s education and has a really bad impact on the students grades at the end of year 11 (GCSE).In the bridge its full of distractions the teachers say there will be lessons but it’s full of distractions and not good working environment for children to learn the staff a picking on the children’s and then they say why are the students reacting like this after the staff picking on you and bullying you all day. The working environment is not good at all for students, it’s full of distractions and disruption. The school food is not good at all. I have been experienced myself by given an out of date juice bottle and also the prices of the food goes up quite a lot after a bit. The teachers are always picking on students and bullying them all day to the point where they are so fed up they don’t want to be at school. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT TO SEND ANY OF YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS SCHOOL. THIS SCHOOL WILL MAKE YOUR CHILDREN HAVE A REALLY DIFFICULT HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE AND WILL NOT GET A GOOD EDUCATION. DO NOT GO TO ALLERTON HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!
My experience is one of shock and horror with how they treat the students. The behaviour system is out of date, they are obsessed with tests and some of the teachers are terrible
We had a substitute reacher r most of the term and learned nothing
A really terrible school that may have once been good but no longer is. Bullying teachers, too many stupid rules and tests, test, tests. We had a substitute reacher for one subject for most of the term and learned nothing
They literally ruined the education experience for me
I would advise you to look for any other school. They literally ruined the education experience for me. A terrible school where you are taught to obey without thinking. No pupil has a voice
A terrible school where the students have no voice and all the teacher care about is ofsted and attendance percentages. They literally ruined the education process for me, so glad to be gone
As an ex teacher from Allerton High school all they care about is ofsted and the facade of good GCSE and A level results. They pretend to care about the children and boast how they treat everyone as an individual but they apply a blanket approach to all of them. As a teacher you accept the rules and method or leave. I left
The school pretends to care and will say what they need on the open evening but it is a terrible school. It is all about tests nothing more. The welfare of the children seen to be ignored with one boy ending his life after being expelled.
This school is horrific. We have tests every half term for every subject? It’s a really stupid system and i feel unprepared for my GCSE’s. Quite a few male teachers make me feel very uncomfortable. Teachers give out codes for no reason. Im a very good student and i never misbehave but somehow i still get codes. The uniform rules are so stupid. we have to have all buttons done up and a tie on and it feels like your being strangled because the collars on the school shirts are tiny. Also why do shops that sell school shirts always make them large and square, see through and with a really tight collar? Last year in physics and biology my class would mess about a lot and my book is just partially done sheets, so all of the learning was left to me. I despise so many teachers as they like having power over a class and constantly abuse it. I really hate this school, and parents please dont even consider sending your child here. The students are bad the food is bad and over priced and the teachers are absolutely awful at teaching and making us feel safe. Ahs is supposedly the best school in Leeds, but we are told to act good when school examiners come in. I hate this school with my whole heart
A truly horrible school that puts discipline before education. The squeeze the joy out of learning and many of the teachers are vindictive and unpleasant. I thankfully managed to get my son out of their
I personally feel very concerned about this school and it’s ofsted report is such a lie my cousin went there and left immediately after the irresponsible staff and bullying social anxiety and much more it is one of the worst schools in the country do not send your child there
Worst School in Leeds. Teachers are bad at the job and chose to pick on students who are behind in any work. The behaviour system is all messed up full of naughty year7-8s and the school has a really bad system where one late means you have to stay 20 minutes after school so if your late 2 mins to each lesson you would have to stay 1hr 40 mins for 10 minutes of late overall. The school is known to be one of the best but from any student point of view the school is horrible and drains students each and everyday. The teachers are very bad at their jobs and only a very very small percentage is even doing the bare minimum of teaching. Loads of students each day stay home and arrive badly late just for less time in the depressing unfair school. At least 98% of students will say how bad it is and how it drains people everyday causing depression, anxiety and even suicide (one happened very recently and social media managed to expose the headteacher for helping to cause this 12 year olds tragic suicide.)
A poor education it is all about ofsted and getting results. The lower set children are forgotten and homework never marked. A child can do well all year long and make a few mistakes on an exam that is all that is counted. Many teacher are very unpleasant to the children. There was sadly a suicide in year 7 this year
Secondary education is very apt, secondary over ofsted
An awful school that treats children like a cog in a machine. All about testing and getting a good ofsted report. Homework isn't marked and the behaviour team is used tp punish and not resolve. There was also sadly a suicide in year 7 this year. I am attempting to find my son a new school
While the school has an outstanding reputation for getting the grades its whole emphasis is on exams. My son joined in Sept and it has been test after test with very little time for teaching. He has been given a list of things to learn for a math exam, nothing of which he learned in primary school or his six weeks at Allteron. I have had to teach him the maths for the test and then two whole lessons were used to do the test and then mark the test with the teaching explaining how to do each question. Surely some of the questions need a whole lesson to explain the method. He has been at the school 5 weeks and has had about 8 tests with more coming. I want him to do well at exams but leave school with a rounded education. I know school can't teach everything so my plan is to cover stuff not covered in the curriculum but at the moment our free time is learning stuff for the next exam. I am regretting getting a place in this much sought after school. Actually Cognitive Abilities Tests coming up next term now as well.
The teachers are quite encouraging towards helping the students but sometimes they just ignore the students that are trying to engage but the teacher doesn't like them. The inside grounds are well set out and easy to navigate but the outside is filled with litter and I know it's not the school's fault but they should make a change to the system so the students are encouraged to put their rubbish in the bin instead of dropping it and leaving it. I am currently in year 8 and enjoying my time at school but some of the students are disrespectful to teachers and this is a problem that they need to fix.
This school is outstanding. On the allerton high school website, we show that we do extremely well getting into the top 10% nationally. Our school offers a broad range of subjects including Business, Wood Technology and Art. We are even expanding our school because of how many people want to come to our school! Our learning system is fun and creative, covering many aspects in an exciting way.
Additionally, we have been mentioned multiple times for our student's hard work and commit in many lessons across. We deal with many situatuons clearly with a lot of staff to help children who have any problems with school or home. Our school is also known for a lot of progress: we have "purple challenges" which are designed to stretch learners to their full potential and beyond! Allerton High School loves creating a safe, welcome and warm environment for all the students, from Year 7 all the way to year 13 and our incredible teachers!
Might be the best in Leeds but the head makes dim rules and doesn't allow the students to express themselves at all and the dress code is very sexist. Girls can't show their ankles because it may distract any males in the building? Excuse me but what. And why aren't we allowed to have a certain haircut? Or paint our nails? Is white nail polish going to suddenly distract us all from learning? No. And it's the same in regards to skirts. Nothing above the knee. Why? Ah that's right, the male staff might get uncomfortable because they can see our thighs. The boys will *** **** *** because a girl is showing a bit of thigh. THE LENGTH OF A SKIRT DOES NOT AFFECT LEARNING. Thank you for your time
The teachers are constant bullies, and they totally disregard your feelings. They don't try and stop any bullying, they sit down and try and force you to be friends. They push autistic kids under the carpet and out of sight and just class them as behavioural kids. They just want to keep the school as the top in Leeds and nothing will change their minds.
