Decent, yet has problems

I've had an...experience at this school. Many good things, many bad things. Individually:

- Quality of Education: 4/5. Most teacher have a real passion for teaching and seeing students thrive. Most. As with all places there are those who are in it for the money and don't have a real interest in teaching and developing young minds - like any school, really.
- Student Voice: 1/5. Over the 5 years I spent at this school, I can look back on all the changes to the school we have made - about 2. No joke, to allow clear stud earrings took from my Year 8 to end of Year 11! We rarely get asked about our opinions, and when we are no discernable change seemed to happen. College council meetings were few and far in between - having about 3 awkward, silent meetings per academic year as a teacher sits in on the meeting, stopping us from really making a change.
- Management/SLT: 2/5. Priorities all mixed up. Rolled your skirt up? Detention! Bullied someone? Don't do it again, love! Seriously, some of the management team need to sort out their priorities and care about education, rather than skirts. Now, I agree that a skirt rolled up to obviously inappropriate lengths is unacceptable, but an inch above the knee won't kill anyone.
PHSE days were a waste of time. They'd teach you things too late - for example in Year 11 we got taught about pornography - most are introduced to it at around the age of 12, in Year 7/8. These days forced you off timetable and into form groups with those you don't really know well - especially in the later year groups. LGBT+ education was shockingly poor, only the obligatory assembly every few months on teaching equality.

Overall, like, it's a decent school, which has many problems that need sorting. hopefully they're being fixed, I left over a year go!

It’s very average!!

It’s okay and most of the people here are alright but theres a slight few that make me really consider moving to eaton bank tbh. The year 7s are VERY cocky and i’ve seen their parents and none of which look like they would raise the kids to do that so it must be a skill issue or something. Most teachers are nice but some of them are very strict and/or mean. Some of the students call them the spawn of satan (no pun intended because this is a catholic school)!! I’ve read other reviews and I have no idea where they’re coming from about the family management because I have had counselling about my family and it was actually horrible, they basically reverted everything and made me feel like the problem (like the taylor swift song)! They did get a proper counsellor from the government and she was so nice she fixed a lot of things. Also if you get accused of something instead of being innocent until proven guilty, you’re guilty until proven innocent here, I know from 2 experiences that I don’t want to mention right now because if I do and they see this review they’re probably going to pull me into their office and shout at me for bRiNgInG dOwN tHe ScHoOl ImAgE! So just don’t get into any kind of drama if you’re not liked by the pastoral team because they will side with the favourites. I don’t know if it can be considered bullying but some kids do tend to get picked on and they do just about nothing to stop it except for one or two assemblies. I used to get teased a little bit and the ‘lads’ who think they’re funny still have one or two things to say but it’s kinda stopped after the summer holidays happened. Massive shoutout to the performing arts department though you guys are the best I wish they made both Music and Drama GCSE a thing because I would have taken that in a heartbeat!! You only get 3 options here because you’re forced to take R.E GCSE (which is okay, its fair because its a catholic school but also alot of other schools force you to take R.E and they still give you 4 options but it’s okay because R.E is really easy as long as you can interpret things into your own opinion). P.E can be fun, as long as you’re doing a good sport with your friends and a nice teacher, I don’t know if they still do this now but in year 7/8, the P.E sets were just decided by how good you are at football, so naturally I was in bottom set (which is the teachers least favourite set). I don’t mind the uniform; it could be much worse but i think they’re a little too strict on the girls with the skirts. I find it funny how they couldn’t care less about a child getting severely bullied and on the verge of probably depression but god forbid your skirt is above your knee because it’s s going to “distract the boys”. Like fair enough if you can literally see someone’s cheeks because of how high rolled it is but as Kourtney Kardashian said, “There are people dying” !! The headteachers nice, he’s very chill and one of the two deputies are nice, i’m not going to give my opinion on the other because we would be here all day. In conclusion, if you wanted to get an average public secondary school experience, you should come here, but do bare in mind that if you’re not good at football or netball or attractive or extroverted (even for me who is extremely extroverted to the point where I think I would die if I didn’t have attention for more than 3 hours it was hard; I’m like the Charlie Puth song) or anything like that, you’re gonna struggle in the first few years but it does get better, just find a good friend group and a subject that you really like and make your whole personality about that and you’ll be fine!!

P.S if any of the staff are reading this, it definitely isn’t about you because why would any of the teachers that we don’t like be reading reviews on how to be a better school please don’t give me a detention or something okay bye x

Student review

I have had multiple occasions where I have been fingerblasted by older male teachers of this school , I think this an abomination to my rights and is frankly disturbing. I will not name these cock gobbling monsters as I respect the school greatly but past/Present members of the school know exactly who . Also the teachers at fridget so it’s pretty boring most of the time . Much love for Rebecca Rigby x

There are better

This school was rated outstanding in 2014. Very doubtful it would receive the same status 8 years later. Discipline is at the top of the agenda, so if your child isn't a little angel, I wouldn't bother sending them here. Headmaster is all smiles but can be very unpleasant.

I have no idea what to write here

The bullying is terrible and bringing the bullies away just makes them be more aggressive.
This school is ableist, and the most of the students transphobic.

Great school for learning, not so much everywhere else. You get friends but more enemies.

The teachers in the class gets students attention but if they are off the supple never gets attention. Some are nice but strict and others are the worst.

Hard one

I mean it’s alright I guess but some of the children attending are horrible and what not even though it’s a catholic school?? My children had good experiences (education wise) however some of the teachers seem a bit useless.

Meh

Ehhhh

It’s a good school over all but it doesn’t cater to everyone’s needs. Quite abit of bullying goes on here but nobody realises. I understand that it’s a Catholic school but they really push religion onto you - you pray one the mornings and before you leave to go home. The family support team is AMAZING and they do everything they can to try and make you happy, by far the friendliest people in the school. Good sports facilities too but the languages are awful. You are forced to take one for GCSE.

Pretty good school

Food can be nice sometimes and bad other times, computer science rooms stink of sweat 🤮 great sports facilities and good array of languages to learn from over all its a great school with minor adjustments to be made

This school did wonders for me
I was a kid in care who had been through the works and their amazing family support team saved my life a number of times

No no no

I don’t think that this is a school to send children to. It’s like a boarding school with nuns
